Accidently hit the starter button while running
Hi, all.
I fired up the bike this afternoon after trying to change my shifter and while it was running, I accidentally hit the starter button. Immediately, the bike shut off. It restarted but it cranked pretty slowly. Does it sound like I fried something? I know, I know. I shouldn't work on my own bikes. You'd think I would have learned that lesson years ago with the '07 Nomad.

I've done that a number of times with all kinds of different vehicles (bikes, cars, trucks and even heavy equipment), never hurt anything yet.

I have done that on my Nomad and my Kingpin. No issues.

When I went to start it yesterday, it fired up w/o a hitch. Not sure why it seemed slow the other day when I tried to restart it unless something got "stuck".
How are you liking your 'Pin? Great bike, eh? Back in the day, I thought about getting a 'Pin but felt it wasn't big enough. I like the Boardwalk but couldn't get over the beach bars so I passed although I could have gotten 1 for cheap.

Honestly, it didn't sound like anything. It just killed the motor. Started back up but slowly.

I used to like a LOUD bike. Now, I want a relatively quiet bike although a little bit of bark on hard acceleration isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as I can control it.

Could the slow start up be that the battery did not get enough charge put back in after the initial start? I think the rpms need to be above Idle for the charging system to work.

I would have thought the battery would still have basically the same charge as it did 2 minutes prior. How much juice would the battery lose in a single start? Serious question. Definitely not trying to argue.

That depends on the condition of the battery. When my Vaquero battery got weak it would not start strong twice in a row.

Hmmm...could be that's it. So far, it's still starting every time, even in 30* temps but it wouldn't surprise me if I needed to replace the battery in the spring.

Glad to be wrong on the battery power. I was just tossing it out there as a possible issue. Things get really finicky with electricals. I know in -F degrees in a car or my truck I need to let it run for awhile to replace the power that I took out in the initial start if I had a weak battery.
In -10f I have had to jump start a few neighbors on occasion because they started up their cars 2-3 times during the night to make sure they run in the AM. And then not enough juice to start when they needed it. Lucky for me I have moved out of that neighborhood, Found a smarter place to live.
