Can't really vote. Have only had the Grasshopper. It got the job done. No real adjustment.
The OEM Victory currently behind me is adjustable, and now that is is adjusted, IT is the best Backrest so far. Ride safe, SMokier

I've had a grasshopper. It was ok but flexed to much and no adjustment.
I Have a oem Kawasaki I bought used off Ebay. Its very rigid and heavy, has a little flex, adjusts 2 positions up and down but not forward or back. I made 3 shims of different thickness that go where the spring is, so I could adjust it forward some. I wouldn't pay new price for it. But its not going to break. The Stapleton is only for the Vaquero. Works like the one on a Mustang seat. Would be my choice for a Vaquero. Watched the install video for the Utopia. Looks like it kinda flops forward and a lot of work to install. On a Vaquero install a lot simpler. My Choices: Voyager would be OEM but $$$ if you can find one. Stapleton for Vaquero. Best Backrest: The one Russel Daylong has for The Voyager is real nice but take room out of the passenger area which is small to begin with. Had this one on my 1600 lots of adjustment up and down , forward and back pivoting head and some flex. But you have to do their seat rework to get it. $$$

I've had (3) Utopia backrests. They're not cheap (just north of $200) but well worth the money. If money IS an object, the Grasshopper is better than nothing.

Joe Stapleton's is the Bomb. I had to get a slightly shorter bolt for the back adjustment and I was good to go. Just out of concern for the seat clearance. I am not that tall. This product is SOLID and very stable. I did get it when it was first offered so the price maybe higher now.
That said, I feel it offers all that the others fit but when you lean back it only rotates (the back rest)and does not flex at all. Not at all. It is solid. Totally My choice, And Joe is a nice guy.. I have talked to him during the development, He is not out to make $$ ( think about it just a few thousand 1700s sold ) just a guy that saw a need and filled it and very well I may add.

Grasshopper...it's ok for the $$$ and I have clocked up 30k+ km's on it.
If it broke I would probably look at another type.

OP here.....I ended up going with the Grasshopper. For the money its a great value and works perfectly. Looks decent as well.
I'll report back when I get some serious miles on it. Craig

Grasshopper is the only brand I have used. Bang-for-the-buck can't be beat. My first (of four) was on my 1500 Classic. It was perfect. And flexible! I never gave much thought about it being kind of flexy until someone here on the forum mentioned it as a downfall. It made me realize it was a benefit, in my opinion.
