Classic and Nomad front forks the same?

I recently put in the Progressive front springs and cut the new spacer to 6" per the directions. Now the bike feels a bit too "twitchy" hitting bumps, and is unnerving particularly in a turn. Now is the spring etc the same as the Classic stock? because the directions show a 5.65" spacer (says re-use stock for Classic) and that is exactly the spacer I took out of the bike to begin with. I feel like i need less pre-load, but i dont want to drop the front end any by doing so... 2006 1600 if it matters.

Thoughts?

You have a 6 inch spacer that you cut and you have a 5.65 spacer that you took out. Put the 5.65 spacer back in and take it for a ride ?

Oh for sure, just wondering if someone KNEW for sure, before I did the work, and then possibly have to do it all back again.
