VN900 Dresser

Almost ready to paint the modified Kutter hard bags on my buddy's VN900 Dresser. Did a lot of mods to these bags: converted to side hinge, single push button lockable latch, LED running lights, blistered out the back to fit into the stock Kawasaki bag mount frames. All very simple and lightweight, but a LOT of work went into making these work like factory bags. Learned a LOT about fabricating ABS plastic, welding plastic, creating custom parts. Pretty happy so far, the final paint scheme will match the bike.

I bought that 1978 Pacifico Shadow fairing and Kutter saddlebags on CL for $80. The fairing needed some repairs, and I modded it to install a stereo. What I learned from modifying the fairing lead me to apply ideas to the saddlebags to mount them using the stock Kawwy mounts. All that has lead to me developing mounts for the Nomad bags I'm modifying for my VN1600 Classic, without using any of the heavy complicated Kawasaki bag mounts. My goal is to have a system to remove the bags in minutes with no obvious hardware showing with the bags off the bike. I plan to have a similar fairing on my 1600 with Nomad bags with a Harley copy tail trunk, all to have a dresser weighing less than 800 lbs. The fairing has the gauge set of a VN1700 Vaquero mounted in it, and the windshield will be short, like the bagger style. Si I'll be able to run the bike full dresser style with the bags on or off and same for the tail trunk.
