International Shipping via UPS
This is off topic but I once shipped a bike from Canada to the U.K in the 90's . It cost me $600 and it went by sea in a container inside a crate that I had made. When it arrived in the U.K after going via Antwerp (Holland) the broker in the U.K would not let my buddy have the bike until it cleared customs (understandable). He was charged for 6 weeks "storage" while the broker was waiting for U.K customs to clear the bike. That ended up costing $600. Talk about extortion. If you dont pay the bill you cant have your goods. So that bike cost me $1200 to ship to the U.K and took 3 months in total. I was never told at this end about any extra charges payable in the U.K apart from Import Duty.

I use US Postal Service to ship all the time to the German branch of my family in Northern Germany. Don't know how it applies to Canada, but at least internationally to Germany I never had a problem. Just alway make sure I note that it's a gift so it doesn't get caught up in Customs fees.

Received my Canadian parcel today and was very fortunate to not be charged any brokerage fees by UPS.

I've had no issues with UPS, but W2C shipping has better rates usually.
