My opinion is, nothing beats a GW, hands down. But, opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one!!

I just like the look of the Rocket, it's kind of like the Nomad. If I had my druthers to buy another bike, it would be the GW. I would never waste my money on a HD. Not saying they are bad, just why pay that much more money for something that isn't up to par with the Nomad?

I personally like the Nomad, consider it the second best bike out there, after the GW. I also like it because it's a "one off", not a lot of them out there, don't run into them very often. There's another reason I wouldn't buy a HD, I like to do my own thing, not have the 'herd' mentality. Well, and I've almost always been a Kawasaki fan.

Now, all you HD riders needn't jump on me. Like I said, everyone has their own opinions, that's just mine...........
I looked at the Rocket, but it was missing some things I think a touring bike should have. It doesn't even have cruise control for one. The new Nomads have that. To me, the Gold Wing is long in tooth and a very heavy bike. I do some two up riding, but nothing cross continental. Once you get over 20K, the market narrows. If I ever get into the market for a full boat tourer, I am not sure what I would buy.

They are already high enough here.

Not down playing the damage to your bike Scott but from your pics it looked like all cosmetic damage.
I'm sure the dealer is going off of list price and padding the labor some. He said there was damage to the frame, the right hand fork stop was bent or broken, that's how my tank got dented.

I am a little sad today. My bike deserved better than that. It served me faithfully for almost 52,000 miles. It's a shame to part company this way.

Yeah, they become like an old friend I know. But it has to be kept in perspective. You are relativly unhurt. The bike is totaled.
It would have been much sader if the bike was unhurt and you were totaled.
Shopping for a new ride can be fun.

As luck would have it, there is a large HD dealer right across the street from the Kawasaki dealer that has my bike. I am off Wed-Fri this week for AZ Bike Week. Most likely, it will be "buying a new bike week".

So hows this work with Trip, is he realizing you don't have to ride a Nomad to be a moderator or a member in good standing?

Let's wait and see what happens before we bother the big guy. I guess if I go to the other side, I will no longer be a full member, just an associate, or whatever they are called. I'll pass the torch to some other worthy member, and I'll slink to the bottom of the totem pole with Greg and Ponch.

I always thought you might like the Cross Country. Nice bike, but with the top case it's pushing 20K. If you do get something else, you'll be in good company with Greg and I. ;)

Geez Scott.....Looking at the pics, I didn't think it was going to be totaled! But you never know until an adjuster starts digging where we can't see. Sorry to hear that. You put in alot of work on your Nomad. It was a beauty and your engineering was top notch. Good luck on your new purchase, whatever it may be.

Go to the Kawasaki Dealer ride the new Voyager and then go ride the new Ultra Glide and decide thats all you can do and if you do not like them just get on ebay like Jared and find another Nomad.

I know I will. I was always a "back of the classroom" kind of guy in college, anyway.

I thought I'd like the Victory CC too, but I just don't get the warm fuzzies when I look at it. I've tried to like it, it just doesn't do it for me.

One thing I don't care for about the Voyager is the fact you can't put a luggage rack on the top of the tourpak. That's losing some valuable carrying ability.

Decisions...decisions...
