I always thought you might like the Cross Country. Nice bike, but with the top case it's pushing 20K. If you do get something else, you'll be in good company with Greg and I. ;)
I know I will. I was always a "back of the classroom" kind of guy in college, anyway.

I thought I'd like the Victory CC too, but I just don't get the warm fuzzies when I look at it. I've tried to like it, it just doesn't do it for me.

One thing I don't care for about the Voyager is the fact you can't put a luggage rack on the top of the tourpak. That's losing some valuable carrying ability.

Decisions...decisions...

Not down playing the damage to your bike Scott but from your pics it looked like all cosmetic damage.

I am a little sad today. My bike deserved better than that. It served me faithfully for almost 52,000 miles. It's a shame to part company this way.
It sure is! shame on you Scott! I knew your Nomad as well and we were kind of buddies! Rode all the way to Custer with her!

RIP Black Beauty! :-[

You can't? Wow, I would have thought a rack was possible. Even the 49L topcase on my RT can take a rack...I am surprised. All I can say is try as many bikes as you can. You never know.

I have ridden both, Tom. They are remarkably similar. I plan to ride both again on Friday at Cyclefest.

This time, I really want a fully loaded bike I don't have to put a lot of time and effort in to try to get what I wish I had bought in the first place. I'll never bad-mouth the Nomad, but my preferences have changed since I bought mine.

The dealer just called. Total cost to repair my bike is

$9789.20

Next he was going to call the insurance adjuster. I guess I'll be hearing from him shortly. ::)

As mentioned Scott... a bike's value depreciates fast -- but new parts do not. Thus it doesn't take much to total a bike out.

Sorry to hear about it... but as they say... one door closes and another one opens.

Good luck on finding what you want, and remember what I said about looking outside your state for deals... especially here in the snow-belt where their seasons are slow (and especially after having a few tough years with the economy).

Dealers here have been known to offer good enough deals for people to travel many miles to buy.

Heck, if you buy something around here, I would be willing to ride it out to you

I was able to take all my accesories when my honda was totaled. Sold the seat and some other stuff. Any way to buy it back for part of the settlement and part it out?

When Scott is ready, we should have a moment of silence.

If he doesn't buy a Nomad or Vaquero... it will be the only silence you'll hear on this site for while.
