I guess it was my turn (New w/pics)

Geez Scott.....this is really a bummer. I know how much work you put into your bike and how nice it was after seeing it up close in Cortez last June. But....bikes are like faithful old dogs.....nothing helps you get over the loss of the last one like getting a new pup.

What would keep you from putting your Scootworks trunk (w/luggage rack) on a new Voyager? You would have to paint it to match, fab a mounting bracket and wire in the lights, but that can't be all that hard or something you haven't done before. You would be the first on your block to have a 1700 Voyager with an HD style tour pack....once again proving to all the KawaNOW faithful that your skills are second to none.... .

Honestly....buy whatever floats your boat. It's an unexpected do-over and a chance to make right the things that weren't quite on your last ride....although it comes with an additional payment.... . Best of luck with whatever you decide.

No kidding!

Back in 09 when I was shopping for my Ultra, Blue Springs Harley Davidson outside of Kansas City offered the same bike for almost $2000 cheaper that any dealer around here. Plus they offered to pick me up at the airport.

Sorry to hear about it... but as they say... one door closes and another one opens.

Good luck on finding what you want, and remember what I said about looking outside your state for deals... especially here in the snow-belt where their seasons are slow (and especially after having a few tough years with the economy).

Dealers here have been known to offer good enough deals for people to travel many miles to buy.

Heck, if you buy something around here, I would be willing to ride it out to you
I know Chicago BMW has a deal where if you fly in, they will pick you up from the airport and give you lunch too if you buy a bike and ride home. I also think they own Chicago HD. They were very competitive on price. I was this close to doing it, but my local guy cut a little better deal and it was local. It can't hurt to ask...

So that's where they are able to actually sell them these days I was wondering :-/ :-/

Good luck with your search Scott......seems like you have been leaning that way for a while and now you just might have the opportunity.

I know I will. I was always a "back of the classroom" kind of guy in college, anyway.

I thought I'd like the Victory CC too, but I just don't get the warm fuzzies when I look at it. I've tried to like it, it just doesn't do it for me.

One thing I don't care for about the Voyager is the fact you can't put a luggage rack on the top of the tourpak. That's losing some valuable carrying ability.

Decisions...decisions...
The luggae rack on a tour pak seems like a small issue. With your mechanical ability I wonder if you might be able to overcome that.

Did you have one on you old bike? I can't tell in your sig pic. Did you use it often? Do you ride 2-UP a lot?

I don't even have a tour pak let alone a luggage rack on top and I rarely have a lack of storage space. the few times a year that I need more I just throw my luggage on the back seat.

Last multi day tour I did I took 2 jackets 2 helmets and all the usual stuff for all conditions and I still had plenty of room...what the h*ll do you pack? A bike lift?

I hope the bike you decide on is a Vaquero or Voyager or Nomad. I don't want to see you relegated to wannabe status...you are too instrumental around here.

Besides that we want you to be able to keep up on the group rides

In all seriousness if I were to buy today (and I think about it occasionally) I have it narrowed to the Vaquero (Red) or an FJR.

Good Luck either way!

Ponch...yes...a choice of styles. I guess the smart thing would be to buy both? I will have my Nomad for at least a couple more seasons.

CJ....is this the correct bike comparison?

I should have kept my Nomad too and in retrospect I could have, but the wife said there can be only one. Funny thing is, she liked the Nomad better. My oldest daughter on the other hand, not so much.
