occupations of riders in general?

Ponch, that made me laugh. I build my own computers and many got passed on to kids and parents and the like. The only problem is you have to support them after like you are everybody's personal Geek Squad.

As for Unions. They have their place and it's a good thing we have them. However, big union for me is like big government. After a while they can forget who they are serving and start to become self-serving.

That's why you always charge for service outside of family. Free advice leads to free support.

I think this thread belongs in another area. But.....

Kevin,............No apologies necessary my friend. But you don't mind if I take your advice and just sit back and watch now do you? ;)

I will say though that I am happy to have belonged to a union for most of my entire working career. There have been times that without the help of one I would have seen my working conditions eroded back to the 1950's, by greedy, manipulating "suit's" that want nothing more than to have the workers suppressed and under their thumb. This isn't always the case with every company but it's been my observation that given the opportunity, a lot of companies will try to do just that if given the chance.
I have seen and been a part of the recovery and complete turn around of "brothers" caught up in drugs, and alcohol. And without the union working with these people and getting the companies to see the value in a persons life, these people might have and most likely would have "fallen through the cracks" and never recovered. Does it always work? No of course not,...I have seen co-workers die, or commit suicide,.... but I can say I have seen more good done than not.
It isn't always or only about money either, but I know I work for a fair wage that wouldn't have been there bargaining on my own. Hey to each their own, but I've been on both sides of the fence and seen where workers have not been given a fair shake when possible by a company.
Anyway so much for me sitting back and watching and taking your advice Kevin. {Which is what you should have done BTW} ;) Everything you said is true and was said well. I know you didn't need my help for sure. I just knew biteing my tongue was hurting and I had to say my piece. I hope those of you not in unions are happy and treated well and those in a union appreciate the good work they have done for you.
And if that doesn't get the hornets buzzing,......
in Solidarity! .......peace and love brothers :)

It's coming......still doing therapy and I'm signed up through W.C.B. {worksafe BC} for a full conditioning course so I can be in fair shape to return to work. Being off for so long and not able to be as active as I was, your whole body gets ....weak. This way I won't hurt something else when I do return to my full duties. I'll be returning on a gradual rtn to work probably in a month or so. But then I'll be on vacation in June.
and then again in July and August with still more vacations to use after that. Poor me!! But the good side is I'll be down to less than 36 months of work left to do.

We call that PT or Physical Therapy here, or is that something completely different?

So are you looking towards retirement?

I am. You???
The plan is for it to happen May of 2013 If we're all still around after the catastrophic events of 2012. If you believe in that stuff. Probably the same thing. Sounds like it. I'm already doing a physio program. Pysio therapy.

my youngest is going on 6, so I will not be retiring anytime soon, certainly not of my making as it were.

I am surprised they use HDs in Canada. I would think they'd be more like Europe, using Honda's and BMW.

Ah, so there's no process of selecting bikes? Or is it an exercise in A Priori reasoning? :)

"The chief loves them." There's your process Ponch...............

I find it interesting that you ride an HD at work and your personal ride is a Nomad.
