To Our Canadian Brothers and Sisters

Being a conservative you would think I would be dead set against this bill. I do not like some of the structure...but it sounds like they are going to move off the government run portion and use co-ops to intensify competition.

Well after listening to you, the radio, tv, developing my own thoughts, and reading excerpts from the bill I guess I am riding the fence still.

I do know I am getting tired of $1250 per month for a family of 3 and watch others (illegals, people w/sniffles in the ER, people that don't take care of themselves, lawyers, fees/salaries, etc.) drive up the costs further.

Our current system is too expensive. I am not one that thinks current U.S. care is that great...I see my share of mistakes and bad service in the current system.

I wouldn't mind a "health score" system to give people incentive to take better care of themselves. I.E. if your health score is 800 you would pay less than someone with 600. Kind of like using credit scores for interest rates and auto insurance rates. There are answers and proven trends in the numbers. I am not sure that this is logistically possible to establish but if it is I would support it.

I am not talking about penalizing anyone for things they can't control...just rewarding them for the things they can control.

Afterall why am I paying the same as the 400 pound Goliath that is sitting at McDonald's eating 4 big macs and 2 orders of fries? He has every right to eat that food....but I shouldn't have to pay for his bad eating habits....I have my own bad health habits and should pay more than the guy that has better health habits than me.

The one thing that keeps me in check on this bill is my core belief that we need less government not more, so I am in a quandry.
