Side Cover Pins
Hey, where did you get chrome side covers. That would make two less pieces to paint.

i did the "DOH" ! on my side cover on my 06! drilled them out and did the bolt covered with a pastic/rubber tit thing ! worked just fine !!! when you dont pull your side covers off very often, you forget that the one needs to slide forward to come off !!

Kris...I got a very simple fix for your problem.........DUCT TAPE!
Warning....the chrome finish on my side covers is very cheap and they scratch and discolor pretty easy. They still add to the look but it didn't take ole Pig Pen here long to ding them up.

That's because it ain't real chrome, and because it is vacuum painted aluminum, which makes them easy to scratch.
It works something like heat the part in a vacuum oven and then paint in there then. The end result is a bright, but weak finish.

So, you obviously never owned a first generation Venture!! As long as you have the broken off bit you have no worrys! Take and file the spot where the tang broke off - then drill to fit a pop rivet. Insert pop rivet and lightly tighten with gun just enough to not break off the nail. Carefully drill the pin out to the size of the pop rivet nail. 5 minute epoxy the two pieces together and then snip of the excess nail. Now. even if you slightly bend the tang when removing it will not snap off! You can also use this method if you have access to a wrecking yard - find a used side cover with as close as possible tang and cut them off and reuse.

This was a "spot on" thread! Followed the instruction using the pan head bolt. Thanks for the pictures. They really made it easy to understand and follow. Used a Dremel to do the flattening and cutting.
Did anyone come up with a "damper" vs. the Kawa part which is $2+. Must be something else that would work.
