I second the mustang seat statement above. I routinely ride a tank out when going solo. My wife wants to stop more often. The ledge in the back of the seat allows me to do a leg press and still have my lower back on the ledge, raising my butt off the actual seat. It seems to work if I get sore.

Blood clots in the legs can be a result of long periods of sitting, or in my case unknown. I have had 3 clots in my legs. Raising yourself up off the seat is not going to help much. You need to get the calf muscle working which is the blood pump for your legs. Keep well hydrated as this makes the blood less "sticky". Long term effects of blood clots is not good. Permanent damage to the one way valves in your legs (cusps) is the result. This causes blood to pool in your calf and necessitates you to wear a compression sock all day, every day. If part of the leg clot breaks off it can travel to the lungs, heart or brain. Worst case scenario is death.

My advice is don't try and stay in the saddle all day just to get somewhere in a hurry. Take regular breaks and have a walk around.

When I wanted to stand on my Nomad I stood on the passenger boards, no need to feel like you were pulling yourself forward on the bars that way.
