If we decide to hold the 2014 rally in Washington or Oregon you and I may have to get there via Missoula and hwy 12 through Lewiston. There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Missoula (Lolo) to Orofino...or East to West....is the best way to ride Hwy 12 (Lolo Pass). It is a short climb to the summit on the East side of the pass, then a 100 mile shallow downhill grade heading West all the way to Orofino. You just lope along in high gear, damn near coasting the entire way...!

Stop at the top to take in the neat Lewis and Clark Visitors Center, then kick back and enjoy. As soon as you start down the hill heading west is where that cool sign is..."Winding Road next 99 miles"....!

I've been on that road west to east in a cage several times but never the other direction. I think they put one of those signs on the west end also.

Hey Bud, I'm really sorry to hear about your mom, I hope she is comfortable there and it all comes to a peaceful end soon for you and your family.

I went through hwy 12 about 4 years ago on my old bike, the ride along the Clearwater River was pretty awesome. I still have a few pictures from there.

I haven't been to Baker City area yet, but I heard its pretty awesome also. I have plans for a trip to Baker City soon. I'm taking the wife there for a motorcycle trip there the first part of July. She wants to ride the steam train there too. Earlier I did have plans to meet up with Dwyane (Leadbelly from Canada) in Baker City, he is the one that told me about the area, but he can't get the time off from his work now.

The wife and I took a motorcycle trip up to Rainier/St Hellens Wa. a few years ago, also awesome.

My own area So. Oregon / Crater Lake area is also nice. I would be happy with any of the suggestions, all good!
James

I'm up for anything in 2014. Just let me know and I will do my best to be there as long as the timing works out. July is always good for me and my wife and I have been talking about rides in all the areas under discussion. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Bud, we are keeping you and yours in our thoughts.
