Ponch also posted today on this...
Interesting is all I can say at this moment. They achieved the nostalgic-look of their heritage, in my opinion. Funny how Polaris stated in the video they targeted making the world's best v-twin motorcycle power plant and tested the motor for a million miles -- however the design is using what some are punishing HD for using... i.e., push-rods for one. Ummm... Also, this motor is clearly much larger than other manufacturer's stock engines. I noticed in some of the promotion pieces they mention 6-speed over-drive; but I only saw a 6-speed transmission (there IS a difference). Victory uses an over-drive tranny for their 6th gear; where HD uses a direct-drive 6-speed. Those who have an over-drive system will likely argue it is better... but plenty of other mechanical engineers will also argue the opposite. Either way... if I am right with the direct-drive 6-speed... then Indian again would be using what some would say is old technology. Ummm... who owns Indian now?

Very limited info on this new motor:
111 cubic inches More than 115 ft-lbs of torque 49-degree air-cooled V-Twin 6-speed overdrive transmission The actual engine should look quite big but it looks chubby and compact on the photos. Looking forward to seeing the new bikes in person. |

Pushrod engine? Wasn't there a guy on here recently posting that pushrods are old technology?

Here's another video story that says "Indian is back".
Also note the following official comment from the same link above: "Hello Everyone, the all-new Indian Motorcycle will have pricing that is more attainable than it has been in the recent past. We cannot, however, share pricing at this time." Login or Register to Remove Ads |

That is one bad-ass looking and sounding motor-scooter. I can't wait to see the wrapping!

I know we don't have any up here, except one Victory dealer in Langley, B.C. but it looks like Polaris keeping the two companies separate. |
