I know there is at least one more ND rider that is on this forum. I haven't seen any posts from him in a few days.

So far I have "met" some great people here. I think you would have to almost lead us off a cliff like lemmings before we would consider it a screw up. |

minneapolis may be a central spot, but i for one would drive farther to stay away from that traffic there. old sayin in minnesota, we hav two seasons, winter, and road construction. but will keep thinkin about another spot on that side of the state for a possible meetin spot.

I would agree Lonewolf. Traffic would not be a plus for Minneapolis.
Depending on where in the NCR one would come; anywhere south of Minne to Sioux Falls Iowa appears to about the middle of NCR. Others living in Iowa would be a better resouce; but the last I remember Central Iowa didn't have very many twisties or overly scenic routes unless you go more toward the Mississippi. (Eastern section of Iowa -- Dubuque area in particular -- north and south of it) If you make it that far -- you would want to continue across the Mississippi into the Northwest section of Illinois (Galena); and the Southwest section of Wisconsin. That tri-state area has some of the finest "riding" roads in the Midwest. Lot's of great twisties; and vista views for miles and miles. That area has been a destination spot for bikers for years. On most summer days in Galena and Dubuque, Iowa the bikes line the streets.

Diddo on staying away from the Twin Cities area. I haven't been to many large cities, but of the ones I've been to, Minneapolis/St. Paul by far has the most messed up and busy traffic. I have no desire to ride bike there.

Midway would be somewhere between Mankato and Redwood Falls MN. This is a rough guess.

every year a group of us goes across the border into wisc. in buffalo county. if its twisties your lookin for the bluffs in wisc along the big muddy, hav tons of them. mankato and redwood hav some good riding area along the minnesota river. its hard to find real good ridin in central to southern mn. southeast along the mississippi, is not to bad. and north shore is pretty good, other than that its a toss up to what kind of ridin others want. sorry im not being very specific to one area.

I will throw this out there for those close to Rockford, Illinois. There is a ride for St. Jude's Children Hospital on August 16th. This one is already on my calendar. Would be nice to meet some of you and help the kids at the same time.

Future meet and greet
gofs99;
I live in Rockford; may be interested; need to check my schedule but interested. PM me with the details. Click on "glwilson" from a previous post of mine and you will be able to send a personal message. Regarding some of the other posts; it appears there is an interest in the Mississippi valley area from Northwestern Illinois; Northwestern Iowa; to Southwestern Wisconsin and Western Minnesota. For those that have posted; I believe we know that this is one of the best areas in the Midwest to ride. If anyone is interested in putting together a "late summer"; "early fall" ride somewhere in these areas let me know. Maybe a few of us can actually meet to do this. The summer is burning by fast and unless anyone wants to where snow suits to ride -- we are running on limited time -- however throw some ideas out and let's see where they land. I will post tomorrow on some dates I know I would be available. Ponch -- any of you guys from Iowa interested? Chime in if so. If we find we can't pull something off this year; let's put consideration for a couple ideas for next year in the NCR.

Future meet and greet
I would be interested if something was set up in the "Galena territories" or upper Iowa/Wisconsin area this fall. Great for fall to see leaves etc. Another idea concerning meet/greet- because the area is so large maybe there needs to be a ride for the western 1/2 of the area and a ride for the eastern 1/2. Anybody could obviously attend but I don't think you would get a good turnout if just 1 ride centrally located. Puts the Dakotas and Nebraska people at a big disadvantage. Just a thought from this worn out brain b-4 I head off to work. Everyone have a good weekend and RIDE---Abbo
