They are actually pretty tame by my standards. Not loud at all, sounds more like a muscle car now. Deep and throaty. I can easily hear music at a low level on the system even at 80 mph after I put the 10 inch shield.

I know Cactus. I just hope they inspected for defects before they send the new replacement. Seems fishy that from my research I found that at lesast 4 of us have experienced the same defect on the same side pipe, for the same model motorcycle. A bad production run perhaps? It is just odd. Maybe the guy welding the baffles just did not give a chitt, but you would think someone from QC would catch the defect, it is pretty obvious when you look at the pipe.

Wooo hooo. New muffler is on the Brown Truck and out for delivery. I really hope they checked it for the same issue before shipping. I will take some pics when I get the muffler installed.

Chances are the mufflers are welded by a robot and the parts were not loaded in the welding jig properly or there was an issue with the jig. Either way the operator should have noticed. Usually there are sensors that detect if the parts are loaded in the jig correctly.

There a dozens of people that I know who have had their rear V&H header pipe crack and Vance and Hines won't even acknowledge the problem or stand behind their product.

I must be one of the lucky Cactus. The pipe arrived in perfect condition. Now both side match. I wish it was as simple as swapping the baffle. Didn't feel like pulling the bag off again and re bolting. I guess I will preserve the pipe I am taking off, in case the new one ever gets scratched or messed up in any way. The outer skin of the defective muffler is flawless. I will install tomorrow morning.
