Chris, you keep it up and I will plan a visit one of these days to fish with you. Then I just might have a need for a trailer to haul back a load of salmon.
Bud,
For just sheer action....you should think about coming up during the next Humpy run (Pink Salmon). They arrive in my local river every odd year (2011 is the next run) in late August and early September....great riding weather! The run is huge and it is nothing to catch 50-75 of them on a good day. They run about 6-8 lbs and are great fighters on light trout/fly rods. The pic is one my son took when he and his buddies took my boat up for an afternoon of carnage.... !
Hey, hey, hey Kris!! Just wait a minute here!!! I fly-fish also. Bud sent me his "special" fresh-water fly; of which I still have!

This gives ME special rights to the invite to come there next Sept/Aug to fish!!!

So... when and where do I make my reservations? I am dead-serious!! (I'll bring some great "to-kill-ya" )

All joking aside... I would seriously make the commitment to do that. It would be great to see you and Bud again.

Just let me know if that would be possible ;) If not, I would understand. :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/> :(" title="" border="0"/>

Greg,
You are more than welcome to come out and bang on some of these Pink Salmon. They are an infestation when they hit the river and it can be really something to see!

Our Redwoods Rally will be in late August, so it would have to be in September sometime. Labor Day weekend would be perfect, but I kind of made an invitation already for that weekend to my South Dakota hunting buddy and his kid. I will try to find out if he plans to come out or not. The fishing is good the whole month of September...so even the following week would be fine.

Keep in mind these fish are not of good table quality....and I usually just catch and release them. I don't know why my kid loaded up the fish box with them.....sheesh. But for sheer fun and action....they are very tough to beat. We hook them two and three at a time when it's hot. Check out this photo... ;)!

Kris... I am serious and would like to make it out there.

Send me a PM when you find out about a weekend that would work. I am assuming I am "hiring" you as a guide, so take that into consideration.

Missing Labor Day weekend is not a problem. If that weekend does workout, that's fine -- otherwise maybe another?

As mentioned, PM me when you think it might work.

Now... regarding "harvesting" any fish. That is not a problem for me. I really do not like "oily" fish... so salmon, trout, and others are not something I particularly would eat. Catch-and-release is fine with me. That is what I do mostly anyway.

Again... I am dead serious... ;) Salmon fishing in the Northwest is on my bucket-list, and it looks like you KNOW how to do it right! ;)

You need to remind again next spring so that I can plan for that one. Looks like a blast. Definitely will need a trailer. Wonder if the Nomad can pull triples?

2010 Fall Salmon Season

Made a run out the the Quinault Reservation Saturday Nov 13 to hit the Quinault with my son for some big King Salmon. As usual, we fished with my favorite tribal guide, Clay Butler (pictured next to me). I hooked and lost a HUGE monster King (50+ lbs)....and we missed many more strikes that just would not stick. I did manage to catch this very impressive native Coho salmon. Made for a tasty dinner and a few lunches as well.... ;)!
