I didn't know Seafoam made any additives.. Well unless what I add to gas and use to clean the throttle body is the one you mean. If it is, then no it won't bridge oil seal to shaft gaps as it is less viscouse than water best i can tell. In the case of adding it to oil, it is actting as a cleaner.
I am not to sure I need a cleaner crank case since I have never over heated the engine and I have never missed a oil change by over 3,000 miles which would still be ok to about 7,500 miles. The lucas is very viscouse, and is why if in a seal seeping situation it will build a oil like bridge between a seal and the shaft for that weeping seal. I would refrain from that unless a seal was leaking already. I am not sure it won't fubarr a wet clutch. I have never been able to determine that either way. I suggested this fix to a guy with a older high milage Nomad and it lessened his water pump oil seal drip to less than 1 drop parked over night, and so far he hasn't come to me with a scalping knife in his hand.

I think if you run 10W40 and change it regularly you shouldn't have a problem with the oil shearing. If I lived in a hot climate like Arizona I may be tempted to use 20W50.
I rin 15W40 now all year and its working well, although on the colder mornings when you first fire it up it takes a couple minutes to get it circulating before it idles ok.

I look at Seafoam as more of a cleaner as well. It does a great job of keeping varnish and sludge from forming and keeps the FI clean as well.

I bought a gallon of the Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel fully synthetic (but it was the 5W40) to try out. Haven't changed the oil yet, waiting on getting my gauges installed and was going to change the oil when I install the new oil sending unit. I've been running Amsoil 20W50, and the only complaint I have with it is the price. The engine starts right up on cold mornings, and only clatters for a few seconds (less than 5) and runs as smooth as silk. If I don't like the way the engine sounds on the Mobil 1, I'll be going back to the Amsoil.

Rotella Dino 15w-40 Have tried all syns and other dinos and the Nomad loves this oil. Put 1 quart Rotella T-6 to remainder Rotella dino during winter months and never had a issue with oil pressure or cold starts. Bikes are like women, everyone of them has a different smell and the Nomads really like dino changed every 2000 miles.
