I'll be heading back to Langley on the 13th to get ready for the ride on Sunday, the 15th with "Hammer". We should be pulling out from his place in Abbotsford around 8:00ish. See you all there. Ride safe and take care.

Left around 12:30 this afternoon, went around 315 miles today. staying in Hastings, NE for the night.

Should add a little over 400 miles tomorrow. A bit more interstate tomorrow - mostly 2 lanes today.

Ann decided we should go a bit farther today. Was planning on stopping in Douglas, Wyoming, but ended up in Casper. Probably closer to 500 miles today. Have reservations in Cody tomorrow night, so a shorter day tomorrow. only 220 miles from here. Should give us a bit more time for sight-seeing.

Arrived in Cody just after noon. Had lunch and spent all afternoon at Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Very cool. Saw great art and terrific exhibits about the plains Indians and Yellowstone wildlife. There was Buffalo Bill stuff there too.
The ride from Shoshone to Thermopolis was the highlight of this trip. Nice canyon riding, gentle curves, gorgeous scenery. The rest was mostly gray and desolate, although Ann tells me she spotted lots of antelope along the side of the road.
Tomorrow should be a terrific day with Chief Joseph highway and Beartooth Pass. We'll probably stop in Bozeman tomorrow night, but who knows.

Enjoy the ride tomorrow, I thought both highways were awesome!

We are in Bozeman tonight and I'm not 100 % sure of our plans at this point but we are considering taking a day off so we may still be here if you stop tomorrow. If you stop here and want company for dinner or a drink let us know. I've got a disposable US cell with us 956-358-8446.

Have your number saved. will see where we end up. Would be nice to meet someone before the rally. Don't feel obligated to wait for us though. We certainly understand if you decide to move on. I'll PM my cell #.

Made it to Bozeman and met up with Doug and Charlene. We are going to complete the ride to the rally together.
Beartooth pass and Chief Joseph were spectacular. What an awesome day. Tomorrow is about 330 miles to Columbia Falls, just outside the entrance to Glacier National Park.

This is the only way road construction shouldhappen. They close the road for 30 minutes at a time.

Rally was fantastic. Terrific scenery everywhere you went. Terrific people all around. Well done Rick and Kris.

When we got back in the states, Ann took the lead and the power went to her head. I was practically WOT trying to keep up with her as the wind and hills were trying to send me backwards towards Canada. Got terrible gas mileage, but made it to Great Falls, MT today just ahead of a nasty looking storm. Arrived around 5, sort of torn between wanting to go a bit further and uncertainty about the weather. Tomorrow we'll head toward Gillette, WY so we can tour Devil's Tower Sunday morning on the way to Rapid City.

Take US 14 out of Sheridan, WY to Gillette

Faster than the Interstate, no RVs and no big rigs.

Have fun.

Also - US 385 through the Black Hills may be closed. Big fire.

Glenn, glad you and Ann had a good time! I have to say this was one great Rally...everything came together like clockwork and Lomax's (Mike and Lorna's) close call with the deer was the only scary moment. We rode with them to Revelstoke, BC, where they kept heading west and we (Tricia and I, Mike and Michelle, Steve and Bourke) turned south toward Nakusp, our stop for the night.

We arrived in 85 degree heat and blinding sunshine, got all checked into our hotel, and agreed to meet for dinner at 5:30 in the lobby, where we planned to walk to the restaurant. When we came out...it was pouring rain, lightning and thunder, so we took a cab to dinner instead. Right after we ordered our food, the power went out all over town. The restaurant folks were outstanding and still managed to feed us, while turning others away until power was restored shortly after we finished eating....and just before our waitress figured out our bill by hand...!!

It was my first rally, Marlene and I had a great time. Met lots of nice people, and had a terrific ride along Hwy 40.

On Friday we went for a short ride up the 1A West of Banff then Hwy 93 to the Continental Divide, then back east toward Cochrane and home to Calgary.
Friday afternoon a large mudslide closed off Hwy 1 between Banff and the 1A turn off. Good thing every was well on there way before that happened.

Made it to Gillette around 6 pm. Took Mt 200 to 59 to 14. After turning onto the street outside the hotel in Great Falls the zumo said 243 miles to the first turn. Don't see that every day. For the most part it was good road, two lanes and no traffic. Was able to manage >75mph most of the day. The next three days will be much simpler. We'll go to Devil's Tower, Spearfish canyon and Nemo road into Rapid City. We are at about 3200 miles so far and the Spyder is officially overdue for an oil change. We'll be able to get it done Monday in Rapid City.
Once again we were very lucky with the weather. As we were heading South on 59, there were tornado watches issued for the county just east of us. We outran the little bit of rain that was still to the west.
