hi
I used a full one until the beginning of the year, but now I have a modular Shark (French) http://www.shark-helmets.com/product...sous_gamme=EV1 (see video), uses almost only in open. I find it hard to find myself locked up now. With the fairing and the windshield high, even with the cold, it goes very well. The only thing is that it is a little noisier than my old full-face helmet.
But hey, I do not live in a very cold area either. When one counts on the fingers of a hand the days with a -5 ° Celsius :)

-15 with wind chill this morning here. Bike in garage under cover nice and toasty. No helmet required. However I prefer a neck gator and pom-pom hat for ice fishing!

I have a full and modular that I use. In the deep cold I stick with the full face until spring. It is supposed to be a high of 5F/-15C for Sunday so I don't think I will be riding that day....supposed to get 1to3 inches of snow too.

Open face helmet all year round here.I cant stand full face, its like looking through a letterbox with earplugs in,all the senses are stifled.I prefer not to ride when its freezing,0 celcius=32f,but sometimes have to.

I have used a full face helmet ever since they became popular in the 70's.
Back then the eye protection was to use RAF style goggles, which I never liked.

As soon as the full face helmets became available at a price I could afford, I got one.

I had a bee down the back of my shirt while doing 80mph on a Norton !

You have not seen bugs like they have here Mick. The bike is plastered with them after every ride in the summer.

We are lucky here in that regard, although i still remember that bee 45yrs later.Maybe thats why i see the world at a funny angle.
My old man had a removal co,and whilst driving on of the wagons,a bee that he had just backhanded off the windscreen, climbed up inside his trouser leg.It waited, undetected, until it reached his balls.Finding a dead end,and a pair of sweaty nuts,it decided to start fighting its way out.It stang him several times before he realised it,then he had to sort the problem out at 60mph.I can just imagine what the drivers of oncoming vehicles must have thought,as this lunatic in a truck was leaping about the cab, trying to get his trousers off.

Scorpian modular. I like the full face but need to be able to flip the front up when I pull up to a light. If the weather is decent I ride with the face shield up and the eye shade down. That's gotten me more than one bee or other critter hit but I continue to do it.

In heavy rain I too get the inside the shield drips but that's just one of the trade offs. Come to think of it, my one piece Shoei used to get water on the inside of the face shield too.

My favorite winter helmet sits on the shelf and I sit by the fire, it's -30c this morning. I think I'll pour another coffee!

I had a bee go up the sleeve of my shirt as I was driving the car with my arm on the open window. It stung me on the arm.

That old car did 0-60mph in about 30 seconds. It did 60mph to 0 in about 5 seconds that day !

Say what?, no my house is on a lake in the Laurentiens mountains. Gets pretty cold outside at times especially if there is a wind, but it is cosy inside. Most folks around here heat mainly with wood. The electric heat in my house only cuts in if I am away or drops below 16c.

Yea, yesterday it got to a blazing -8C....so, I threw on my Gerbing suit and rode into town....not bad....Had a tear at the seam on my right pants leg....wondered where the hell all that cold air came from........Duct Tape and things are good.
Here about 2 months ago, I was swamped, sent bike to local shop to make a small repair. Figured they could handle it. Had to laugh....now I have to doubleshift when downshifting....Guess I won't trust them anymore.
I love my 1/2 helmet, usually with a baclava, a face mask, and a throat protector its usually good....
At -8, thats full face weather....

Back about late 70s, was riding a bike without a windshield, got beaned by a bumble bee at 70 right in the forehead....
Windshields are really nice!
