On vintage 99 a new plug end resistor the thing that clips the wire to the plugs may be faulty as well. If I were going to install new plugs on a 99 year it would be with 4 new ends too.

Or at least OHMS them all out. Not looking i a book I think these would ohm to 18k each.

'IF' there is a faulty pair they would likely be in the deep wells, since water gets turned to steam, and steam will over pressure the rubber boot seals there.

its still doing it. I put premium fuel in it run seafoam through it still doing it. My next step is the plugs and wires. I can get the plugs at auto zone. Where can i get a good deal on the wires?

Get NGK plugs and resistor ends. The ends screw on the wires. Most any bike shop of any kind will have the ends as straight, 45 and 90 degrees resistor ends.

So far as I know the wires are integral to the coils.

do you think the coils could be degrading causing the loss of power?

As I recall, the plug wires aren't replaceable. They are built into the coils. Make sure the ends of the spark plug wires that snap onto the plugs are clean and making good contact.

The ends screw into the coils.I don't believe you're coils are degradding But you can test them with you're meter My climers manuel has directions and give the correct output settings . Primary resistance should be 1.9-2.9 ohms Secondary resistance should be 18k-28k ohms

well the problem is gone for now anyway. I wasnt sure at first but after several muti hundred mile rides i can honestly say its gone. How i came about fixing the problem is what is so perplexing to me. A couple weeks ago i began to see a very small amount of fluid under my bike. Tried like heck to figure out what it was but no luck. I was riding one day stopped at raceway in rockmart came out and the puddle was about the size of a small coffee saucer. This inspired my to tear her down when i got home. Well got home started looking and found fluid in some screw hole on the right side of crank case. Took my air breather and noticed fluid puddled between the cylenders my heart sank. Took the tank off began look more and more and noticed back side of carb was wet. inspection inspection inspection hmmm wat is this oh look it the over flow tube from the radiator neck oh look it has a rather large hole in it. Replaced and problem solved!!!!!!
