Funny. My bike has been in storage since the end of October.

I did something similar on my '06 Nomad. Took off the front fork deflectors and mounted the locks on the bracket, one each side. I think I had to drill one hole to fit the pin on the back of the lock. Worked slick and got rid of those fugly reflectors.

A little ingenuity works wonders.Far enough from any heat source that melts plastic too.

Well, if doing a pitstop, I leave my helmet on, if in a store or whatever for less than a hour, I just keep it on.
If my helmet is off, I carry it with me because of my Sena wireless....

To me, leaving your helmet on a bike unattended is just asking for trouble, I've seen a-shole do stuff to them.
Its like leaving your car/truck and having your jacket/shades locked to your hood.

If you want to use the helmet locks, its easy enough to relocate them. MaKawa could've done a few things differently, like locate the key/choke closer to driver, or the air valve for rear shocks mounted better, but overall, they've done a damn good job of building a great bike at a good price.

ive never owned a bike with helmet locks that didn't lay the helmet down near the hot exhaust...there was always a way around it though...with a little thought...

one of my favorites are small helmet lock cables that allow you to place the helmet on the seat or somewhere else convenient...cables are also a great way to lock up your jacket...just run the cable through a sleeve and its not going anywhere...

try to imagine the difficulty finding a place for a helmet lock....if the factory put them on the fork like one of our members and they got in the way of the steering while riding (even though it wouldn't be recommended) they would probably be sued...same if they were anywhere else that could interfere with riding and control....

Nice idea. I've thought of allot of spots to transfer them to, but not this one.

Dragon Lady.
"the air valve for rear shocks mounted better"
I just swapped the shocks over, then the valve is facing forward, and easy to get at.

I have to agree with Dragon lady. Yes there are a few minor things that could have maybe been thought out better, but on the whole they are a well built bike and very reliable. I don't sweat the odd minor convenience issues, cause there is no perfect design on any bike, car or truck.

There is no conceivable way the helmet locks could get in the way of steering if they are put on the wind deflectors or lowers in the manner Cliff and I did.

And some wonder why Brexit passed. I've got a Brit friend, a retired policeman with Special Branch, who is pretty appalled at what is happening to his country. He was a strong supporter of Brexit and regaining control of your borders.

I picked up a set of Nomad bags and brackets off a Red/Red 99.

They arrived last night.

Now I get to decide what to do with the exhaust.

I also scored a Memphis Shades Fats windshield like new for $40.

This meanie is gonna be a bagger very soon.
