That would have made the prices a little closer to one another.

I don't get why they didn't like the side opening bags. That is one of my favorite thing about our bikes. They also said the the side opening bags don't hold as much as the top loading...? Not too sure if that is true.

I wish they had used stock from the factory units. Let the pluses and minuses fall where ever. To up grade one to compare doesn't make sense to me. The guy said that the Vaq bags have been redesigned by Makaw and have less volume inside now. Just saying....

.... Meaning that mama K probably realized that the side opening bags were liked a little better than the top opening ones and used the leftovers that they had from earlier versions of the nomad...... just my thoughts on the matter. I like the side opening bags as well. From what I've seen, they don't look much different, if at all. I'd go with the Vaquero any day over the HD..... of course I won't buy anything that says Apple or Bose on it either (not that there's anything wrong with that ;) ). Just because you can market a product well, doesn't make it a better product.

What is the guy putting the bags that springs out at him; feral cats? Apparently he has nevered tried to retrieve his fuel additive or some heavy object from under clothing, etc. at the bottom of out of those top loaders. How exactly does he get things to stay inside the lid above the lower part of the bag? There is no selective retrieval of an item near the bottom and the space above the lower portion of the bag is not very practical either. Overall it seemed a little biased IMHO.

Sorry Dave; but HD's does not have any facilities in Illinois.

Regarding Illinois making California look conservative... not sure that is possible; but Illinois is trying to.

My geography is bad. I meant Milwaukee Wisconsin. To me all those areas are the same...COLD!!! :)

With that being said, I do believe that all the states and cities need to rethink the way they tax and treat companies.

As long as they show the price difference, it all works out. I wonder if they are comparing the saddle bag capacity of the Vaquero to the new Nomad bags not the 99-08, I would think they are.

I'm not totally in to price when buying a MC. I would prefer stock MC's be judged as they come. Not what you could make it to be. I think many more are going to be sold as stock plus paint option, not with the upgrade to the bigger motor. IMO

I'm not familiar with the Voyager package, but maybe they should have done their comparo using the Voyager and Roadglide Ultra. ;)

I found that review to be good and less biased toward HD than might have been written. I do find it interesting that the engine had to be upgraded to compare to the Vaquero and that the stock motor and exhaust provided a better ride and similar feel as compared to the HD. I found it amazing all of the extra charges for things that come stock with the Vaquero, like color. Seriously? HD charges for a different color?

After reading this and looking at the review Todd gave, I think I would get a Vaquero, depending on when my Nomad finally croaks and goes off to motorcycle heaven.

They did an Electra vs Voyager in 2009.

RG vs. Vaquero and $4500? That is a no brainer.

You have t remember 2 things:

1) Some people will buy a Harley no matter what the cost, and

2) Some people have more money than they have brains!
