The belt at factory specs. The belt whine will drive most of us nuts.
I have tinnitus, the whine I don't even hear as I lost the high pitch noises a long time ago, heck I don't even hear the wife most times. that is the issue with the gear shift I have. Only started late last year.

Smokey, not hearing the wife most of the time is just a matter of conditioning, not hearing loss

just for info the dealer replaced the one in the bike, still have the same problem, so the issue is somewhere else, not going to bother anymore.

Before I got the Voyager I had a 1500 Classic with no tach or gear indicator. Was able to figure out what gear I was in. Yes the indicator on my 2010 is acting up. I don't want to bother getting it fixed. Sure is nice when it works.

Not really the point though, if it is a part of the bike, included as part of the instruments, then it should work correctly. All too often one little problem leads to bigger problems, and by then the warranty is usually over.

I understand, I just have a dealer that makes everything a PIA. So I wouldn't take it in just for that. Is the switch easy to get to? I might check it out next oil change.

It's a bigger job you have to remove the round side cover and the drive belt and front pully and more. I had mine done and it lasted about a week and right back to misreading agian. To make things worse i had to readjust my belt after they tightened it to specs. Was really whineing bad.

I have a nomad but i think the buss your hearing is the chrome cover that gos around the ignition switch. I've read some post about that on here. Grab it and push down on it when you hear the rattle agian. It should stop. I think people are putting double sided tape under the cover to stop the noise. Some buy a tank bib.
