All this talk about about horn's got me to thinking. Just yesterday us old retired farts ( oh yeah I retired from my second career 7 May 09 ) took a fast ride up to Willow Creek From Eureka,ca and back on Hwy 299. It's a pretty good mountain road. On they way back some goofball tried to pull over into our lane. Well I hit my horn and I could barely hear it. So this mourning I made a bracket and mounted a Stebel horn in line with my stock horn forward of it . it's not the type you guys are using however. I bought it at Kragens auto for my old bike. It's 118 decibels. $14.95. It's about the same size as stock. You could just remove the stock and mount this in the same place and use the same brackets and wiring. It sounds like a loud car car horn now. Most definitely a big improvement . I will get some picture's up soon.

I pushed mine under the tank, through the back side where the tongue of the seat inserts. I wrapped it in plastic first.

Mine is in the left side cover with the horn compressor and the cruise control.

My Stebel horn arrived today. I'm a bit confused with the existing horn wiring. The hot wire coming to my stock horn is hot when I turn the ignition switch to on. I used a test light and with the switch on, one wire is hot at all times and the other is dead. Does the switch close the circuit by grounding the other wire? Did you all run into the same thing or is mine an oddball?

The switch completes the circuit to the horm, basically what you said in your post.

Got the Stebel mounted and blowing. That thing is loud! My horn button completes the circuit by grounding. I don't know if all '07's are like this. I only had to use the stock horn ground wire to go back to the relay under the seat. The old wire that becomes hot with the ignition switch is now taped up and tucked away where the stock horn was located.

Mine is tucked away in front of the battery. It came with a short lead and inline fuse between the connector and the relay.

A lot of good advice and comments. Can't wait to get it mounted.
