You would have to see if they look the same. Im guessing it won't work because most carburated motors use a pump with much lower pressure than an FI system.

Of all of the bikes I have had, I am most comfortable working on my Nomad. It is easy and cheap to keep running well and that is a great feature for us non-lottery winners. The more you do, the easier it gets.

Always year make and model should come first when your stuck. A 99' pump is around 3 to 5 psi so far as I know. Nothing like the 1500's or the 1600's.

Hope he's ok......

My carb bikes used gravity. If that cuts out we are in real trouble.

Yeah, we'd all need space suits and stuff

Most bikes do but the Nomads use a pump for some reason.

Redjay if you pop the filler cap does the noise lessen? Does the cap Hiss too? I mean when you pop it open.

That buzzing some guys fix, I don't care about, and I sort of like hearing the buzz of the vent valve, which says Hi it's me and I am working.

The 99's fuel pump is not internal to the tank. It is mounted to the frame above the engine under the tank. If you pull the tank follow the gas line over to it. Look in this link page 1-34

Thanks for the information DC. I have the manual too and have worked around the pump a little in the past when installing my auxiliary fuel cell. Just seeing if there was an alternative fuel pump that would fit.

Fuel pump failure, stranded

The bike had been running great. Getting on the Interstate, shifting into 3rd and the engine died. The lights on the oil pressure, fuel injection lights up. The speedo does NOT sweep and the fuel pump does not pressurize. There had been no extra noise or other problems.
Fuses are good, and relay checks out.
Any other suggestions?

Does anything work? Sounds like the 30 amp main fuse blew. It's under the seat mounted in a holder on the battery hold down. There may be a cover/cap on the fuse holder, if not look for a blue plastic fuse.

Everything works except the fuel pump. All lights guages and the bike will crank. But with no fuel it does not start or fire. I replaced the main fuse just in case. But no luck. Also replaced the fuel pump fuse. I think it is the fuel pump relay. Round relay mounted under the main fuse panel on the frame. Dealer is ordering the part. Have to trace some more wiring though. Don't want to start replacing things without knowing if it will fix the problem.

What makes you think its the relay and not the fuel pump itself?

There is no output voltage from the relay. There was no fuel pump problems before, no dragging, whining. I know that electrical things sometimes just stop working but don't fuel pump normally give an indication of impending doom?
