I'd go this route. (well actually I'd machine my own) But anyway, I think the wompus racks are waaaay to expensive for what you get. There's not that much work in making those...

I ordered from Mike at Wompus Racks on Wednesday of this week. He responded with a completed order and shipping confirmation in about three hours. The rack arrived here today, Friday, and looks great. Nice transaction. Great quality and service.

I checked out the Custom World International Voyageur rack, and although it does look awesome it seems to Attach the same as the oem rack. unfortunately I'll be loading the trunk down plus at least 50% of the time I have a passenger so I want something more sturdy. someone is selling a wompus in the classifieds I'll probably try to grab that and have it chromed.

I can always run it black and chrome it over the winter. that's why I'm looking for a black trunk, I can use it now paint it later. in fact now that I think of it I have a friend that chromes gun parts he could probably do it cheap.

He could make a good living on this site doing chrome work.

He waits till he gets a few jobs lined up to cover materials. like I mentioned mostly gun parts and a few guitar parts but I imagine he should be able to do the rack.

Mike from Wompus Racks had this to say this morning, on another site.
For what it's worth, yes, I make all the Scootworks racks for them. I also can make the 1600 Nomad rack 1 inch lower. If you have any questions call me 404-405-1550 Mike "WOMPUS" Nieznany

Have Scootworks Trunk
I read the post that Scootworks not good to deal with. I don't know here or there about that, I've had my Scootworks Trunk for quite a while now and I love it my wife is very happy with the added comfort that it affords.I bought mine back in 2010 and had no problems with them. I bought the trunk, wrap around backrest, tubular top rack and the mounting system all from Scootworks.
