I've told Krystal this for several years. She was always saying "But what about the grandkids?" I said to her that they will be grown up by then and we can always visit. This last year she said "When do we start traveling?"
Have any hints?

Gotta agree tho, the summers here are getting rough to take. Me and the wife are talking about finding some affordable place up north to escape too in in the summer months.

Flagstaff is nice but it's hell getting around there. Traffic is nasty, especially during summer when half of the valley is up there.

Nastier than rush hour here or NY? I've only been there a few times. My oldest daughter goes to NAU. A guy I work with has a house near Happy Jack. He says it's at least 25 degrees cooler up there. When it's over 105 here, it's a bit much. Hot is hot.

I have never been to NYC, but Flagstaff is a town with narrow streets and small blocks and only one long main drag. On weekends traffic gets pretty heavy and it takes a long time to get through it. A place like Happy Jack is a little too isolated for me. Somewhere around Prescott wouldn't be too bad or up around Heber or Show Low. I can't understand why anyone would live in Bullhead City or Havasu. It's hotter there than it is here.

We can go snowmobiling, skiing, icefishing, and a ton of other stuff here, it gives us a nice variety of activities to do. On the really cold days I stay inside and tinker with my guns until the weather improves. Just mounted a couple scopes lately.

I lived in Iowa for 9 years. I never got into that stuff. Just not interested in freezing to death outside.

Yep. Thats our plan too. Flagstaff is to developed now and ever since the mass exodus of Californians to Flag its too expensive. Somewhere from Payson over to Show Low will work. That's another plus for Arizona. You don't have drive clear across the nation for a cooler climate. A 3 hour commute puts you on top of the Colorado plateau.
Lake Havasu? No way! It gets hotter there than in Phoenix and, my gawd, what a barren wilderness. If I owned hell and Lake Havasu I'd live in hell and rent out Havasu!

Ever been through Payson on a Sunday afternoon and seen the light at 260 and 87 backed up for 2 miles? Everybody is heading back to the valley after a weekend on the rim. It makes for a "fun" ride back to valley dodging horse trailers and toy haulers for 80 miles.
