Where was the vacuum leak at that way we all know to look there if our bikes start to ride like what you described. Thanks for info, Sharps.

What I THINK happened (and I have no clue if it did or not) is that the negative battery terminal was loose and it caused the bike to die.

I drifted the bike into a parking lot and I think when I was drifting, the two brass tubes that you plug off when doing the intake mod blew air instead of sucked it. This caused both those caps to pop off.

That is where the link problem was and I have no idea how they would have both popped off at the same time, but they did. Maybe someone else has a better explanation.

Yeah that can make sence.... If the engine spit back thru the intake with a miss fire the caps could blow off easy.

Is this or was it a cali bike? In the work I have dome the only brass port I have capped off goes to the vacuum pod that feeds air to the reed valves. I call the vac pod a medusa head, since it looks snakey.

I am aware that at least on cali bike there is a like brass port. I don't recall capping that one.

The two I am taking about are on the intake thottle body, not the 2 in the oem air box where 7 inch adapter plates go on the right side only.

Any and all plastic caps need to be replace once a year. If not replaced inspected. They can get brittle from heat, crack or become loose.

Glad to hear you got it going again Jared. Man it has been a rough couple of weeks for you. Maybe that will be it for you. You might have clear sailing from now on.

That was an interesting adventure...and a good lesson. I don't have intake mods but I would not have thought to check that even if I did.

I am a novice mechanic...even worse...a non-mechanic. That is why I do very few mods...I get frustrated when something mechanical doesn't run properly or at all. This is probably why I go overboard on maintenance to make sure I don't have issues on the road.

I do admire you mechanics that tackle the mods and understand what the heck you are doing.

Jared..buy yourself a nice cool one...you deserve it!
