New cheap bling

It would be awesome if someone could locate a part number. I only have one and would like three to cover the top of the fork tubes and the center nut.

The center nut is a bit taller so the same cover won't fit both.

CheriAnn, it must be a man thing. Maybe we just have to much time that we spend time looking around the men's room looking for bling.

Cool, what great responses. If you go to a Peterbuilt or other transport truck shops you will find many sizes of chrome nut covers some of which will fit on top of the triple tree in like manner and sometimes other nuts on the bike.

Plumbing shops also sell chrome piping as toilet connectors that you can use to feed electrical through or a chrome bushings to extend mounts. On a roll now.

Guys spend less time in the head so credit is due for quick recognition of a great mod. Kudos.

I don't see a part number on the extra one I have.
It's interior diameter is 1.5" before the ring of plastic threads are removed. Once the threads are out, it fits perfect.
The depth is only about 5/8" so it's not deep enough to fit over the center nut on mine.

If you find a way to stamp or paste an HD sticker on it they will pay a hundred dollars for it anyway. Sorry, I could not resist.

I am guessing it is off a Sloan Flush Valve. Here is a link to parts diagram...maybe the Vandal Resistant (yeah right) cap?

I used "Household Amazing Goop" to hold it on.

I just used what was handy.

I think it would pry off fairly easy as Amazing Goop stays somewhat flexible.[/quote:wekzmv7t]

Now would that be in the restroom or bike?

New cheap bling

I'm interested about Scott's "new cheap bling" idea he had to cover the fork bolts.
So I contacted him and got more specific instructions on exactly what part it was, so perhaps I could do the same mod.. He also asked if I could post the info for others to use. Here's what I know so far.

Scott said...
....."I looked today and the writing on the valve reads "H-700 series stop" and "Royal Sloan USA" on the valve.

This document looks like it shows the part on page three.
http://www.sloanvalve.com/Maintenanc...es/0816333.pdf

Repair Parts - Vandal Resistant Cap*, chrome plated
Part# H-1010-A
Code# 3308791

But I don't know where they can be purchased locally."

Scott refers to pg. 3, and that indeed could be it.
If you click on the link of the pdf. file and go to the bottom of pg. 5 you'll see CONTROL STOP REPAIR KITS AND REPLACEMENT PARTS.
A similar cap is there along with a part number. It is a "Sloan" mfg. part and the part and code numbers are:
Part #H-1009-A
Code #3308790.
There looks to be a few possible choices that may fit the Nomad.
I'm going to try and get to my local plumbing wholesale store to see if they can help. Because Home Depot doesn't carry that type of thing. A specialty store is needed.
So I hope this helps any of you there that might like to do this "new cheap bling" modification. ;)
