Your to late Bud, I went down to my inlaws on Sunday, and gave my brotherlaw what I had left. Maybe second hand smoke will be just as satisfying to me some day.

No More Cigars For Me

A good cigar is like a beautiful chick with a great body who also knows the American League box scores. ~M*A*S*H, Klinger, "Bug-Out," 1976

A woman is only a woman, but a good cigar is a smoke. ~Rudyard Kipling, The Betrothed

I thought I couldn't afford to take her out and smoke as well. So I gave up cigarettes. Then I took her out and one day I looked at her and thought: "Oh well," and I went back to smoking again, and that was better. ~Benny Hill

To cease smoking is the easiest thing I ever did. I ought to know because I've done it a thousand times. ~Mark Twain, attributed

No More Cigars For Me

Its been 15 days so far, and yesterday was a day where it was on my mind a little more than other days. I had a few cravings, but made it through with no problems. After dinner relaxing in the yard seems to be the toughest, and yesterday was the first day Ive been able to do that in a couple of weeks. As long as I stay occupied outside its not a big deal , idle hands are the devils tools though. ;)

The solution.Every time you get that craving either jump on the bike and ride, or wash it or wax it..LOL. It will be very clean and you'll be doing a lot of riding.

Sounds good but its raining here and the times I wash and wax the bike are usually when I had a cigar also. Now I'll probably be refilling the beer fridge more often than before, the bike is parked right next to it. :(

That was my problem too. I was always smoking while working on the bike. After I quit smoking I didn't want to work on the bike either. It was like I'd lost 90% of my motivation. It's been 45 days for me and you wouldn't believe how filthy I let the bike get.

Finally I forced myself to do it, but it was a real struggle.

Congratulations to all you folks that quit. I smoke and curse myself for ever starting. It's the damned hardest thing to stop.

I'll try it again after I drink and smoke and drink some more with BD, Nico and Cadd at Mesquite (you know, evil companions, etc.).

Tomk

I am fortunate in the fact that of all the people I hang around with regularly, I was the only smoker. Still , on a wet weekend like were having here, its a little harder to keep myself occupied. Once the weather breaks and I can get working on the landscaping in the back yard, I'll be to busy to think about it. Ive never been one to sit around the house much, Im usually in the garage tinkering with something, but that was also my prime cigar puffing time. I have to get into a different routine , and then it won't be on my mind anymore. Or go for a good long ride somewhere.

This quitting smoking business seems tougher than the last time back in 1980. Im still on the wagon but I seem to spend to much time thinking about it, especially on weekends.

Best of luck to you and quitting. I've never been a smoker, but I have several relatives and friends that do. Some have successfully quit, while others are still trying to accomplish it. I have seen how hard it can be, so I wish you the best!
