Only the 99's had the plastic oil gear.

I am wondering if that's what is happening on 04 Nomad. The rattle,which is coming from the front cylinder, comes and goes. It's been doing rattling more often than not lately and yesterday, after stopping for gas, it was running nicely without the rattle. This mornings ride to work was smooth as well. Will see when it comes back again.

98,99, and a few early 2000's. I had an early 98 and replaced my gear with a metal gear kit that a guy in Georgia came up with. A very clever design that allowed you to not have to split the engine cases to install it.
