I ride the bike more, or at least I was initially, but that was only a temporary relief because I'm now riding all I possibly can, and am starting to get wet more often. Not exactly suffering as a result though.
As far as noticed affects - I thought the traffic in along I-80 was way down in Wyoming/Nebraska, and definitely in the tourist areas I've seen lately. Hard to tell in the Denver metro area though. Lots of scooters on the streets being ridden by people in summer mall clothes. |

We're conservative in our car trips. We plan more stops for one trip rather than make several trips. I have noticed though when we do go out to eat that the local restaurents are no longer crowded. This must be a result of everyone tightening up.

Not to mention what would happen when one of these meets a Ford Expedition or H2 in a collision. That would really be ugly.

HehHeh...
The NHTSA shock absorbing bumpers would weigh more than the car itself. |

Its getting bad everywhere and it is predicted to go up to 7 bucks a gallon by the end of 2009.
But don't expect the clowns in D.C. to do any more than talk about it. What I understand the reason for the high price of oil is because of the speculators on wall street pushing the price up. But IMO the ones who are being hurt the most are the hard working people who go to work every day, pay there taxes, takes care of their families and dies for their country, the smaller and smaller middle-class! OK I am done with my tantrum SORRY |

Our Bluebird bus sits idle. We'll take it to the Indy series races in Sonoma Ca come August, but other than that it will stay still. 6 miles to the gallon at over $5 and holding 300 gallons, she isn't going far...... That's like $1,500 to filler up!
We've put 22,000 on the Nomad this past year. My jeep has seen 5,000 miles and the last 2.5 years. Ride year round. |

I hear ya, Valdez ! I don't have a motor home, but my Prius, Nomad, and Honda scooter see all the action. The wife's Grand Caravan pretty much sits. We are even considering finding a church close to home rather than the one we have attended for the last 25 years across town where we use to live. Oil went over $ 144.00/barrel today, then backed off to $ 143.67. They cited increased tensions between U.S. and Iran. What a load of bs!! We need to quit allowing ourselves to be insulted like this.

My wife filled up my truck and it cost $86. So it will be seeing less use when I don't have to tote a kid with me. We drive our Focus when we go anywhere, it gets high 20s city and mid 30s highway.
The worst part of the whole deal is the costs for everything are going nuts too. Milk is $4.00 a gallon and with 3 boys in the house, we go through probably 4-5 gallons a week.

I have received two videos via email lately that show 2 different people that have designed and built devices that turn water into fuel. Imagine that, you won't see that on the evening news. Wouldn't surprise me if those guys end up dead before it's over. That just goes to prove that there are REAL alternatives to fossil fuel and corn based ethanol which is also a big joke. -------Bob D.
