Any Amsoil Love?
I just changed over to Amsoil myself and I had 3000 miles on then. I noticed it ran much quieter as soon as I started it. I have used syn oils in all my vehicles for years now and have nothing but good to say about them. In fact I have had no motor problems since I changed over on all my vehicles. Oil brakes down, syn do too, but at a much slower rate. I'll change the next time in my bike at 5000 miles.

Any Amsoil Love?
At the 600 mile oil change I replaced the oil with the same Spectro 10w-40 non-synthetic oil and Kawasaki factory oil filter the Kawasaki dealer had originally installed in my bike. I switched to Amsoil at 3,000 miles on my 07 Nomad. I can't prove that it is better then Mobil 1 for motorcycles or Dino for that matter. I've been using Mobil1 in my 3 Ford Explorers for a total of 412,000 miles. I have never had an engine repair on any of them. One is a 1992 that uses 10w-40,
my 1999 and a 2004 use 5w-30. I change my oil and filter every 6,000 -7,000 miles. When I previously used dino oil in all of my cars or trucks, I changed the oil every 3,000 miles still with no engine repairs. The decision is a personal choice for our own piece of mind. When I am sitting at work next to one co-workers 05 Nomad and another co-workers 06 Nomad and both run dino 10W-40 car oil, the engines on all 3 1600 Nomads sound alike. However, during the winter months when my bike sat for a month or more without starting it, when I did have dino oil for the first 3,000 miles, each time it first started up after sitting the valves would tap for a few seconds just like your car does after an oil change until the oil pressure pumps oil into the top end. Since using the Amsoil the valve tapping has never happened even without it running for 2-1/2 months. I stay connected to a battery tender during the winter months only. I will change my Amsoil at 6,000 miles in my Nomad. I work with the dealer I buy it from, he has a mid 1980's BMW Boxer motorcycle. He uses Amsoil and said he changes his oil between 12,000 -15,000 mile intervals or every 2 years which every comes first. Previously at 7,000 miles he has sent a sample of oil to the Amsoil lab for analysis and they would reply back to him it is good enough for running another 7,000 miles. Personally I'm not going beyond 6,000 miles. |

Any Amsoil Love?
I use Amsoil in my cars, change the oil once a year with about 20-30k on it. And yes, I do check the oil to make sure it isn't breaking down, burnt, etc. Have a Ford Mustang with 135k on it been run like that for about 3 years and still has outstanding oil pressure.
I never believed the hype, but a cousin who started selling it years ago sent me a free case and filters, so I had to try it. Run it, look at the oil periodically, and make your own decision. Having said that about cars, I won't try it in my bike. I am happy with Shell Rotella Synthetic and read some bad experiences somewhere about the clutch and Amsoil. |

I originally used Amsoil in my '99 Suzuki Intruder 1500 when I bought it used. Amsoil was easy to get and just a little more expensive than regular oil at that time. Then it seemed to disappear from auto parts store shelves and the price skyrocketed. I decided to try Shell Rotella-T 5W40 synthetic. No friction modifiers, it performed well, was easy to get at Walmart and inexpensive. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

[quote author=waterman board=nomad thread=10097 post=167430 time=1238291694]Same here Bosko. Oh boy another oil thread????
Asking which oil is best is like asking which make of pickup is best, Ford or Chevy. [quote] Neither. Dodge is best.

I've been using Amsoil since my first 600 miles, no issues, no problems. Bought a case from a dealer in Iowa and really don't remember paying much more than any synthetic. I put on about 5000 miles a year so I only have to do one oil change a season, that makes it worth it to me. If you do your own oil change, using Amsoil way cheaper than a dealer.
