Its starting to sound like it alright! If I retained the Nomad light would I be able to keep the visor thats attached to it? Anyway I'll call into the HD dealers at the weekend and see what I have to shell out for a new one as I can't see any for sale secondhand. Off now for a ride on said Nomad to a vintage car meeting even though its coldish and dark out there, what the hell it beats not riding!

I sure did even though it was pretty dark and very cold, it got down to 3c (37f) so my hands were numb for like 30 minutes after I got home but it was still worth it

I finally picked up an inner fairing for the bike, I got it on ebay for $50.00 shipped. There are a few bargains out there if you pick the correct ones.

I still have to pick the fairings, that will be a couple weeks, since I have to go to Niagara Falls NY to get them.

Any way to fix this? All I can think of is to bend a small piece of metal and screw it in place on either side. Maybe some sort of epoxy in the crack at the same time?

I'd probably use a small bit of metal and two pop rivets to hold it together on the backside. Once the headlight is installed it should be strong enough and be hidden from sight.
Generally the ABS that the fairings are made of doesn't bond to anything very well, so epoxy most likely hold permanently but you could try it, I'd use JB Weld if I was going that route.

Batwing fairing story update, not what you think or expect!
Well fellas, I have to report that I won't be proceeding with the batwing fairing conversion!
I mentioned earlier in a post about a photo of a bride on my Nomad that I was trying to sell my Heritage and buy a same age Ultra which is exactly what happened about a week ago! I sold my Heritage to a Harley mad couple from County Westmeath who are adding it to their collection and then the next day I took the same amount of money (€12,500) that I got for my 2007 Heritage to a man getting out of bikes and took home a mint 2007 Ultra with the same level of extras as on my previous bike but with only 5,000 miles on the clock I am still pinching myself as this is the deal of the century as far as I am concerned as Ultras are making that sort of money for a 2005 with 30,000 miles! Obviously there is no point in my continuing with the batwing project for my Nomad when I have an Ultra sitting next to it! This leaves me feeling a bit sheepish when I consider all the help you men gave to me with some of you like Monkeyman, ringadingh, rickyboy, nomadtom69, Utah Motorcyclist, mobandy78, ponch, loafer, Bdog contributing first class invaluable information which extended to 21 pages and over 300 posts which were viewed over 4,700 times on a topic that I thought I would get maybe a few links shown to me of websites selling the fairings. I really can't express my gratitude enough for all the help I received which was always exactly what I needed BUT little did I know that it would lead to this! A purchase of an Ultra and the end of the project! I feel a bit like I have let people down given all the help I received but as I bought a fairing plus the brackets and then the guages you can see that it was just the way it worked out! Thanks again and hopefully you won't feel your time and effort was wasted as I feel like it showed me the true meaning of the BIker Spirit! Paul. (photo shows my Ultra with me on the left & Lenny Burns dealer principal Waterford HD Ireland on the right. It was a 400 mile round trip to get her serviced and I took it to this dealer as this is where it was bought new and also to get the first service stamp in the owner's manual which was done here)

Congratulations Caddyman! Thats a beautiful bike. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. And its a lot less work than building the Nomad like an Ultra.
I'm still fabbing up my brackets for the fairing, then I'll need to find some gauges and a stereo system for it. As soon as thats done its off to the painter.
