2006 for sale
I bought this bike with the comfort of my wife in mind. That being said, she went for 1 ride and still doesn't care for it. She's afraid. I also bought a Chevy Trailblazer for her winter safety and she doesn't care to drive that either. I love my bike and the Trailblazer is fine except the gas mileage. I give up trying to please her. She can knit or read a book, I don't care, I'm going riding. The bummer is, I know there are alot of others that wouldn't mind being on the back. One of life's crosses I have to bear I guess. :-/

I can identify with BD. Did not have a bike for almost 30 years then my wife gave me a Volusia for my 50th. Even so she only rides with me occasionally to make me happy but she really does not care for it even though I try to be a safe driver. We ride to places within 75 miles for dinner once in a while. Most of my miles are solo. I want to take her to Yellowstone to tour the park (maybe now that I have a bigger bike that will happen) and I would like to do an overnight with her sometime. She just does not care for it and can't understand my fascination with the bike even tho she bought the bike that got me back into it a few years ago. She has yet to try out the new Mustang passenger seat. She thought that I would ride it to work and back. Been married for 33 years and still don't get it. Ha. I look for reasons to ride. Ride with the Blue Knights, take the bike fly fishing, and just go sight seeing. Now I'm thinking about fishing/camping trips. That would be more fun than dragging my camper with the Bronco. Hey, you only live once and I don't want to find myself sitting in a wheelchair, drooling on myself- smelling bad and wishing that I had more great memories to escape to. I want to drop dead crawling out of a river after a great ride to get there and a great day of fly fishing.
Rant over, Idaho

With 2 kids under 3 I'm sure you and your lovely wife could probably use a nice ride to unwind now and again.

I only put 5000 miles on it this year. Better than nothing. She does like to go when we can get grandma and grandpa to watch them. It almost time to shut down for the winter. I might get a couple liitle rides in when the roads are good. Other than that I'm looking forward to Laughlin in April and the kawanow rally whenver that will be.

I am a fortunate man and my wife reminds me of that when she takes me on a tour around the house. She has allowed me to buy all the toys I've wanted over the last few years....New Spa/Hot Tub, new Sea Ray boat, and now my 2007 Nomad. Both our daughters will have graduated college as of this December. My oldest finished her 5 year bachelor's degree in May and my youngest will graduate as a RN in December. Thank God they both have jobs that coincide with their college degrees.
I have had a few motorcycles over the years and am lucky to still have the one I rode my senior year of high school. I was riding a 1974 Honda CB360 and my uncle just bought a brand new 1981 Yamaha 650 Heritage Special. He had never ridden before and, frankly, the power scared the bageeeebez out of him. One day he threw me the keys and said enjoy it until you leave for the military. BOY I SURE DID! I rode it in the fall and again in the spring. Several years later I was able to pinch pennies and buy it from my uncle. I have kept it as my special bike over all these years. My "high school" motorcycle now has 16,052 original miles on it and I am proud to say that I have put all but about a thousand on it. I now have it registered as an antique motorcycle in Virginia. It is totally original as the day it was on the show room floor including the paint. However, I must admit that it feels like a mini-bike compared to my Nomad. Each has its place in my garage of life. I will tell you that each and everytime I take my memory for a short ride I feel like it is 1981 again and then my girlfriend from yesteryear (now my wife) gets a good ride after I get back home. ;) |
