Geez...tough crowd. Everyone got the same warning I did about that chip seal project....NONE! That did suck and it was reckless of the State of California not to have any warning signs. Hopefully we don't run into such problems in Orofino. Besides...we made up for Crescent City with those awesome rides in Canmore...!!

By the looks (website below) it is a very beautiful location and unique restaurant. The issue is that it is located off pavement and is approximately 2 miles of what appears to be well maintained gravel road.

Question is how many people are uncomfortable on riding on gravel? If there are many that are uncomfortable I may look at a different location if possible. Give me your thoughts.

With google maps you can go into street view and see what the road looks like. For gravel, it looks pretty darn good.

For me, I ride gravel anytime I leave home just to make it to pavement so I really don't have a problem but do know people who haven't ridden gravel or really don't want to.

Since I signed up for the rally to meet the group, enjoy the rides and get some group road experience, I'm up for 2 miles of packed gravel as long as it is as advertised. I will be sensitive to dinging up the bike though.

The road looks like no problem...although it might be a bit dusty in July. Here is a photo of it from Google Street View..... It will be nice to meet you and you will have a great time for sure!

If we have time on our way there I will try to ride the road into there on Monday. That said, like netnorske said, google shows the road to be in pretty good shape.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll spray the dust control stuff on it.

I was at that very saloon in the early 90's. A sheriff friend took us in there one night at which time he told us about a case where a family who lived up in that neck of the woods did away with the old man of the family. No body ever found and no one ever charged. Take it for what it's worth. It is in the middle of nowhere. Great saloon though! I'm in.
