Or this one into New Hampshire. But it really depends on where the rally rides are going to go.
Last time we road route 11 in Vermont it was very rough. Route 9 would be a better choice IMO but, it's further south.

Or you could use route 4 (to the north) and loop back with 140/103/131. If you use route 131 there is a short auto road that goes up Mt. Ascutney. http://www.vtstateparks.com/htm/ascutney.htm

If you find yourself near Manchester Vt. you could check out this auto road http://www.equinoxmountain.com/skylinedrive_index.php

Dave I was thinks along the same lines of catching a few other states also. Maybe something like this. Would be a long day, but not as long as going to Maine and back.
If you choose this ride. Check out Mt. Greylock auto road just south of Williamstown Mass. http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr...n-generic.html

Tomm and Turtle, Thanks for all the info. Time will be limited to the free day of riding, so much more than 6-8 hr round trip would be out of the question. So once the scheduled rides are determined, I can decide on where else I will go. I would like to hit as many states as possible, but also see some good landscape/scenery (not into tourist sites, cities and historical sites).

I hope to get to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Google tells me it's 104 miles each way from Lake George.

Baseball Hall of Fame is nice.
They have a statue of Babe Ruth there made out of wood.
The cloth of the uniform looks so real I thought it was real cloth.
They have a sign there saying not to touch, yeah right, I had to touch it to see if it really was wood. Yup it is.

Your right there TC. I put plenty of people in them in past years but I know I couldn't spend a night in one or longer.

Here's another option https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Lake...m0!2m1!1b1!3e0

It includes 9n along Lake George, 125 to Hancock, Bethel Mt. road and Camp Brook road to Bethel, then on to Quechee which has Quechee Gorge (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti...d_Vermont.html)

Another variation https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Lake...m0!2m1!1b1!3e0

OK here's another one (I can't help myself) this one includes what's known as "the notches" https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Lake...m0!2m1!1b1!3e0

As you can see, you don't even have to leave Vermont to have a great ride :)

On a side note: anyone going to Lake George that likes ice cream should check out this place. Their ice cream is VERY good IMO. http://marthasicecream.com/

Looks like a great ride. We are very fortunate to have ridden most of these roads. Thank you very much for sharing.

As long as were on the subject of rides at the National.
What is you guys opinion on how many miles a ride should be?
I'm thinkin between 180 and 220, I led a ride at one of our Regional rallies and it was 225 miles. Some members got upset at the time it took and wanted to get back to the motel to "socialize" or drink beer as some call it

Tim, I have been to rallies where there were multiple rides organized as well as self guided rides. That way everyone can join one that meets their wants and keeps the group size reasonable. One day a longer ride, the next a short ride if desired.

My wife really liked the AVA rally near Hot Springs where they had a ride around the sights in Hot Springs, and at every stop you had to perform some kind of skill game.

I think you are about right on about miles. The one thing to keep in mind is,some of us have never rode this area, and not to make it about total time. I would like to be able to see some of the scenery, not have to worry about where's the next hard turn, because where going so fast to get there and back.
I want to go on a scenic ride not be in a road race.
Being out for 6-8 hours of riding is fine with me. That's what I came for. There's plenty of time to socialize when the sun goes down.
And I sure as hell don't want to play games at every stop.
