It's tough to get approved for time off. Besides, at my current post, I've got alot to do and I seem to be the only one who can/will do the job. If I take a day (or week) off, the work will just pile up and I'll have to catch up when I return. Might as well stay there and keep things mostly caught up.

We (the convicts) used to refer to parole as "vacation".
Then I finally figured out that if I quit breaking the law I didn't have to go back inside. OK, so I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Were fortunate at our place that its rare not to get vacation when you want it. We do have a couple times of year when they want you there, such as the start of school and the end of the year.

But then your expected to find a job and go to work. It still takes up all your free time.

If my back got strong enough to do the work I would go back in a flash. I actually miss my career, especially the $$$. 53 was way too early to retire.

I would imagine I'll work until I'm physically unable to do so any longer. (Or until I die. Whichever comes first.) I can't see having everything paid off before then and I can't see being able to afford making a house payment, truck payment, etc if I'm not working.

I buy one Powerball ticket a week. I'm not much for gambling so that's my limit.

We might buy 3 or 4 lottery tickets a year. Our chances of winning are only slightly lower than those who buy dozens every week.

I read if you put those couple bucks a week in the bank (assuming you start off at 21, I think), by the time you retire, you'll have around $200k. Seems like the smartest move that way. I'm getting too old to save much so it's lottery or work.
