This may sound dumb but I have been reading this thread and my bike has VH pipes on it. I bought it that way. I noticed 2 screws at the end of the pipe and said why not see what happens. I loosened the screws and the baffle came right out Man it is loud and I only did one side. Are all VH pipes like this or did the previous owner put them in. Does any of you run VH pipes with the baffles out It seems awful loud but it does sound good!

The baffles stay in on my V&H, but from time to time when I do a charity ride or something I manage to end up behind a baffleless V&H.

I got a set of replacement baffles that worked like a charm from JP Motorsport (sp.?). They are called "Hard Chrome" and come in different pipe sizes (measured by the OD of tail pipe). I have the Cobra true duals in stead of the V&H. I'm not very wrench handy unless its a pipe wrench (I'm a plumber by trade). I had the new baffles installed in about 20 minutes. Did use some stainless steel wool to insure no rattles develop later, the baffles came with directions and set screws for installation and cost less than $100.00.

Just an update. I was in touch with the original owner and he STILL had the STOCK pipe. I now have both. Thanks for your help. Thinking of trying the stock ones to see what they sound like. THanks again for all your help.

I finally got a set of replacement baffles from V & H. Price $65 from local dealer. V & H had them backordered for about 2 months. The black dragon now sounds a lot quiter and seems to run better.

Anyone else looking for stock pipes??? The ones in my garage have less than 2k on them before I switched to the Cobra's. I'm happy with my curent set so they are dead weight to me. The trick is that if you want them, come get 'em or pay shipping. ;-)

I installed the V & H dual Baggers a year ago on my 08. They sounded good but jaust alittle too quiet, I removed the baffles 2 weeks ago & love the sound. My wife whom loves to ride is much happier now, she said that it does not sound like a sissy bike any longer.

I have V&Hs on my Nad and have them for a long time. Getting them quieter was my preference because I want to be able to hear my communications rig on my bike. I think you'll like them. TomK |
