I can only handle that cigar smoke for 4 nights. The 5th night turns me into a beast.

Just got back from my 2300 mile tune up ride to SoCal....I am ready! Did 625 miles yesterday....mostly in upper 90s but 100+ for 3 solid hours.

It was toasty. Glad I took my CamelBak and my cooling vest.

4 am sounds like a good time to get out of the Phoenix area, it will only be in the mid 80s to low 90s. The faster I can get into the high country the better. Only a few more days to go.

Brad - way back when I ask the question of when check out day was and I got an answer. Made my reservations based on that.

I am not proud to say I was born in Detroit.

Congrats with the wedding Dave. Be thankful you don't have to pay, my daughter just got engaged.....let's just say I won't be buying a new bike anytime soon.

The trip to Custer Battlefield looks good. I am up for that - unless it's going to be a very hot day.

I want to take my longer rides on M and T. Leaving on Thru, I will do a short ride on Wed and rest. up.

Also, if there is to be a group dinner I hope it's not Thru night!! Some of us want be there.

Beartooth first.

Sunday is my long day so a short day on M and long on T with rest on W.

I think they will do well on picking the day for the dinner but what I am worried about is what this years door prize will be. Anything is better than what poor Dave got.

Hey guys. Remember this is not an official VBA event. So it will be more like Tahoe (on our own) than Estes Park (more structured).

I reached out to the Lodge about the dinner. It appears we discussed but never finalized any dinner plans but I expect them to confirm that on Monday 7/18.

It would not surprise me if they can whip up/finalize the plan quickly so we should be able to choose whatever night we want. Sounds like Wednesday night would be best so that is what I will tell them.

Please stay flexible, if they can't do it......it should not be a big deal. We can just scatter for dinner then gather around the fire like we will probably do every night anyhow.

Can't wait to be sitting around the fire with a cold beer.

Oh Cliff, the only door prize will be the dinner bill and we will be glad to give that to you rich BMW riding land barons from California.

I see the lodge updated their website a bit.

Beartooth Ride Summer of 2016 July 31-Aug 4

Indeed....not an official VBA rally. What we discovered in Tahoe is that for some strange reason, those of us who initially became friends through this forum still enjoy hanging out, even though most of us are now riding various other bikes. While I may not post here much anymore, you can bet that I stay in touch with those who I formed a close relationship with via this medium. The fact that we have carried on as the VBA (Various Bagger Association) is a good thing, and I look forward to many more annual informal gatherings, wherever they might be. Just a reminder, looking at the website for Alpine Lodge, they provide a bike wash station and ask that you NOT use your room towels. This means you Joel...! As we get closer to a great week in Red Lodge, I want to give a big shout out to Greg (Schoeney), who found the Alpine Lodge and has been the driving force behind putting this thing together starting nearly a year ago. Nice job Greg! I'm sure next years location will be up for discussion by weeks end, but there will be plenty of time for that later on. I'm also glad that some of the mid-west group are planning to make the trip! As for the cigar smoke, if it is too much for you, you should probably just turn in your man card as you exit the parking lot...!

OK I will turn it in but you are the guy with baby blue alligator seat, cruise control, tunes, enough luggage space for his man purse (oops I meant satchel) and all your hair dye.
