"NEW" Chuckster backing plate (Update Pg 6)

Like CJ......got the Chuckster plate in yesterday, but the 7" filter won't be here until Tues or Wed next week....RATS.
By the time I get into my install, CJ should have all the minor whatever's already worked out!!

Yep. I went out at lunch yesterday and picked up the hardware I needed. The K&N is on the UPS truck for delivery today. I'm going to try and do it tonight, which means pics will be up later tonight or early manana.

I got mine today Thanks Joe but I do have a question what do you do with the 2 metal ports that come thru the old backing plate? I haven't removed my old one yet so I don't know where they go.

You mean the two tubes that connect to the ICS solenoids? I was told that these tubes are connected via hoses to the manifold, and that you can remove the hoses at the manifold and cap the ports there. One of the guys on the Delphi Vulcan Forum tapped the manifold and screwed in pipe plugs. I don't want to do that, personally.

I'll post pics and details after I get mine done tonight or tomorrow.

Joe told me just push the 2 metal capped off ports behind the plate.

There are two metal tubes coming through the old backing plate pull them loose from there mounting bracket between the front & back cyn. then you can cap them off and push them in far enough to mount your new backing plate. I had to plug the hose going to the reed valves, my next project will be to remove the reed valves. There were 2 small rubber hoses at the bottom one of them was plugged so I just removed it and the other one I plugged. The wires for the solenoids I just put in the tunnel going to the other side as it doesn't do anything any more.

Any problem getting the solenoid wires back through the stock plate? Have to cut the connectors off?

DK I took the rubber out and then pulled 1 wire at a time through the hole and put them in the tunnel as it is not doing any thing.

I just worked the grommet they pass through out the back of the old plate. Then pulled the wires through after that.

Oh, by the way - the K&N filter assembly I ordered is a 7"x2", not 7x3 as it stated on the website I ordered from.

I am having a problem with mine. I pulled the fuel tank to get at the air fittings on the manifold. Put everything back together and now my fuel pump isn't working. I can't hear it run when I turn the key and the bike won't start, of course.

Yes, I have checked and rechecked and re-rechecked all the connections. Any ideas?

RESOLVED: The 15a DFI fuse was blown. Had trouble locating it because it isn't with the rest of the fuses next to the coolant jug. Fuel pump is working again.
