I really dont think the speakers have to be Marine grade unless the speakers are constantly exposed to a high moisture environment like a hot tub or boat. The occassional rainshower should not harm the polypropylene cone and rubber surrounds. Unless you jam a hose and soak directly into the speaker. This opens up the options greatly. Marine speakers are traditionally white and the ones that have a black grill usually have a bright color cone for some reason.

Some guys have used non-marine grade speakers. I believe the speakers BrucerZX14 (OP) used are non-marine grade. He figures even if they corrode or otherwise get destroyed he'll just spend another $70 in a few years for a new set.
I agree, though, that not sticking to marine-grade opens up the options dramatically! However, it also opens up to a plethora of mounting screw options and I don't know that all of them will fit the adapter's mounting hole locations! :) Quote:

Randy, do these appear to fit within the bolt pattern design for the adapters?

I can't go just by appearance. The adapters have a 4-bolt pattern as well as a 5-bolt and 6-bolt. Are you able to look up the bolt spacing on those? I can't even tell what model they are.

I like the Polk db651 marine grade speakers. I am pretty sure others used thos with the adapters. The speakers in the photo I believe are Alpine SPE-6000. My friends call me Doppler Vega because I avoid rain like the plague..lol

Those do look like they have universal mounting options. The holes are also elongated so my best guess is they would mount. Without hard numbers I can't guarantee it of course, but it looks like they have most of the bases covered, lol!

We have a regionally famous weatherman in Cleveland named Dick Goddard. The guys is practically a legend and has been a staple longer than my memory serves!
Around these parts if we reference anyone to weather we call them Dick Goddard!! "Hey, looks like it's raining out" "oh, thanks Dick Goddard!" |

I met with C3PO at a riding event today. Hell of a nice guy. I got to see your handy work up close Randy. Those adapters look awesome. The bike sounds night and day with the 6.5 speakers. I will say though, my infinity speakers must have broken in because today was the first 200 mile ride with the amp installed and man the system sounded friggin awesome. Clear and precise well over 80 mph and my wife could hear it perfectly too.

Pics of finished install with Infinity m612s. I find them to be a bit hollow and tinny sounding, but significantly louder without even adding the amp yet.
Per Ken's advise, I am gonna leave them in and run for at least 25 hours before I move to the Polks.
