Do you think the auto compression release could account for a 100 psi difference?
I never tried to do a compression test on a Nomad, so I don't know if it could account for such a variance, I would just expect to see low #'s on both jugs.
I can tell you though, if those were real #'s a difference like that should make the motor shake and or sound different at idle.

I am not aware of a automatic (or manual) compression release on the 1500/1600 engines? I know there is a automatic compression release setup on the V2Ks to aid in starting but I wasn't aware our bikes had one?

Hey Ross,
How are you?, it's been a while. I never had a Nomad motor apart to see the inner workings of one, but I suspect the system holds the exhaust valve slightly open till the motor reaches a certain RPM. I believe there is a specific name for the system and If I'm not mistaken Mas has mentioned he has disabled a few of them when putting a motor back together.
Maybe he will chime in and edjimacate us more.

According to the manual, compression should read between 50 and 85 on both cylinders.

The KACR (Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release) does hold the exhaust valves open a bit to make starting easier. A high reading could be caused by carbon buildup, or something wrong with the KACR (again, according to the manual).

I think it was MAS Tequila as well who said he's removed the KACR from a number of bikes without any problems. I think he even recommends it because if it fails, it can cause a lot of damage. Hopefully he'll comment.

Anyone recommend a online source to buy injectors for a nomad?
