Sorry if I made it sound like it was a one piece set up. You need to cut with a hole saw about a 2.5 inch hole in your bag to get this setup. For those wondering about it being water tight, I have not had problem with water getting in since I have the rubber grommet to seal it. I got my setup at one stop shopping....no that is not the name of the store! I had stopped at a truck stop, I-80 Truck stop in Walcott Iowa and they had all the parts I needed to complete the job. These are just running lights so I have two wires going into the bag in the shock area and basically run them like what others have mentioned on this thread, with a disconnect on the outside.

RASTA....nicely done on the build them yourself tail lights. Always like to see other guys projects where they get creative and come up with something unique. I have some Mutazu lights coming but if I don't like them I might just follow your lead.
BTW...thanks for providing all the parts links

Not sure if your still looking but I went with the LED tear drop style from Shiney-Hiney. It has the rapid-fire-response technology that when the brakes apply they give three fast pulses and then stay on. I found I was pumping my brakes as a warning in the city when braking anyways so this does it for me. They are hooked in to operate as tails, brakes, and signals. I really like them and can see they will make me more visible.

I received the Mutazu LED tear drop tail lights yesterday. What a disappointment. These things are junk. Extremely cheap plastic construction, both lens are marred and scratched, not sealed and no gaskets...every time you wash the bike the circuit boards will get soaking wet. I would send them back but by the time I pay return shipping I'll have spent nearly as much on shipping as I would get refunded. The only good thing I can say about these cheap Chinese imports is they came with 3 conductor wiring harnesses that I can use on the next set of lights I buy and they'll look good hanging on my shop wall.
STAY AWAY FROM THE MUTAZU TAIL LIGHTS. JUNK.

I find that most of what Mutazu offers is junk.

My hardbags are Mutazu HL's and their not built very solid but the quality is acceptable for what they cost. The tail lights were just crap. I think I'm done with Mutazu.

Heres a link to some nice '40 Ford Chevron tail lights but they don't mount to a flat serface. You'd have to fab some housings.
