I stopped at the auto parts store today to look at the 108 Octane Booster. 32 oz can can treat 32 gals of gas. Soooo, that is 1oz per gal. I am going to try this when I can not find Premium.

If I swapped for a mc reat tire I might be at 44/46.

I thought you were running 87.

I'm going to try and cut the dosage rate back to a 1/4 oz per gallon when using 87 octane and see how it performs. I may have to increase this dosage rate to 1/2 oz per gallon when I'm riding 2up and pulling alot of hills in the heat.

I was trying to find info on 108 and discovered it is 95% kerosene with some additives.

I'm using this same brand of booster and I can't explain what happened today. I blended up a little cocktail of additives in my fuel tank; using MMO and octane booster in the same tank. I administered octane booster at 1/2 oz per gallon of fuel and MMO at the recommended rate and rode to work today. I maintained freeway speeds of approximately 70 MPH to and from work, as well as some stop and go city driving coming home. Temperature was 74°F going to work and 98°F coming home. Very little wind in the morning and a slight head wind (<10 mph) in the afternoon. I traveled 55.2 miles and used .965 gallons of 87 octane fuel for approximately 57 MPG. I would normally expect 36 to 38 MPG under the same conditions. I thought the math was off and I had it double checked by someone else. Maybe the pump was broken and metered the fuel incorrectly. I will continue to experiment with dosing rates to see if there is sweet spot.

Well, you have peak my interest. I am also wondering if stead use of those (or any) additives can harm the engine.

Mac - are you saying you get better MPG with engine guard covers on?
It would appear so. I can't prove it, but it does appear that the desert dawgs I have, fair out the bike, and I ride in a semi-heated bubble. July 4th they came off, since I was getting cooked, but as soon as it either cools or rain happens they will go right back on.

I haven't tracked my MPG's in a while but when I was doing that they made a noticable difference.

Bad fingers! I type for crap, and I did MEAN 87, not 89. Thanks.

I run 87 only.

I'ld like to see a whole tank ridden off in a single ride, one start and ride till you hit no less than 180 miles.

The reason I picked 180 miles is that my yellow light comes on like clock work at 178 miles.

So far just once on a ride like that, the light waited to 198 miles.

That particular time I was leading TC and his Bride around my Mountains

IMO TC is a fuel wizard and he jinxed my fuel in a really good way....

Hell No you out rode me in NY State.. I am used to around here, know where the cops and Moose hang out, but in NY I wanted to see the place. And I screwed that up to with ash in my eye at 0 MPH.

I get almost no group ride expericence either, since not many folks will ride with me.

Things are more normal again. I rode the same route yesterday, at similar speeds and conditions. I bought fuel at the same place, but from a different pump. My mileage was a more what I would anticipate; at 40 MPG. I knew there was something wrong with that pump! Good thing is that I continue not to have pinging or performance problems as I continue to reduce the amount of octane booster that I am using.

The little mix of MMO and octane booster was good for 47 MPG today. It was 94°F, light winds, 2-up and speed was under 65 mph.

1972 Edmonton, Alberta, 36 cents a gallon (yes imperial gallon) Thirty Six bucks for a hundred gallon tidy tank on the back of the 69 Ford truck with a 390? that blew/gulped the fuel through the carb at an incredible rate. You needed the extra tank in the back to go anywhere but it was affordable? Fuel at Costco yesterday was $107.9 in Edmonton, Alta. Have a great day. Den
