Rally Attendance

Below is a PM I got from Prairie Cruiser (Ryan).....

Hi Kris. I'm writing from Kalispell, MT, tonight. My wife and I have been out here in Glacier on vacation this week. I had hoped to ride out here when you guys have the NW rally in August, but my wife's work schedule wouldn't allow it. So, we rode out here in two days, Sunday and Monday.
We've been having a great time riding around the park and Flathead Lake. I'd ridden the Going to the Sun Road on a bike four years ago, but my wife never had until yesterday. Man, what a road! The weather was great. They're doing a little road construction up towards the top, but other than that, it was smooth sailing. We even had a grizzly bear run across the road in front of us, not more than 50 feet away!
Tonight we ate at Famous Dave's, and I saw the Holiday Inn Express nearby. Looks like a gorgeous place for you all to stay.
Anyways, I hope you guys have a great rally. We're starting the trek home tomorrow, and we'll be home on Saturday night.
I've got some great pictures that I'll send once we get home. I've got a good one I can use as my new sig pic that has the mountains in the background.
Take care!

Ryan

Sounds good eh.....are you ready to rock.... ????

Rally Attendance

By now everyone should be getting pretty well stoked about the NW Rally! Things are shaping up well and all things considered, I think we are well on the way to a great Rally... !

We will be missing a few members....Rickyboy for one :(, and some whom I have not heard from in a long while. Two others are meeting me in Everett for the trek north to Kamloops....and we're looking forward to meeting up with Mike and Lorna (Lomax) on our way to Banff before heading south to Kalispell. CycleCat and her hubby will be waiting for us just across the U.S. border in Eureka on our way through , so we should have a good posse by the time we pull into the Holiday Inn Express.

How are others planning to get there? Anyone else hooking up for the ride together?

Rally Attendance

At this point in time, our friend Charlie (who just bought the Goldwing) is probably not coming to the rally.

He is currently installing a TowPac on the Wing and will have to get used to it before he wants to ride in a group. His wife currently has a Bergman 650; she forgot to put the kickstand down, in the garage a month ago, tipped over, hit the wall and has decided she really doesn't like riding her own so thus the TowPac. I have actually been looking at the TowPac for a while now and have seen one on a couple on motorcycles, but not up close. Should be interesting to see one installed and getting to try it out will give me an idea of whether I want to go that route when I decide Ruby has gotten too heavy for me. I've talked to several trike riders and they all say if you can ride a quad or snowmobile, a trike is a piece of cake, I can do both, so shouldn't be a problem to adapt to a trike. The nice part about the TowPac is the ability to remove it in 5 minutes, if you feel the need to ride on 2 wheels, whereas a regular trike your stuck with the 3 wheels all the time.

Kris, my brother (VTX 1800) and I will be riding up together. We have never done any overnight rides together. I think we will go up through Forks, Port Townsend to Whidbey via ferry, Hwy 20 East to Coulee, Hwy 25 to Kettle Falls, Hwy 20 East to Bonners Ferry via 2 then into Kalispell through Libbey.

Greg, Sounds like a great route! You guys may actually have more fun getting to Kalispell than being there... ....except for the fact you won't be able to enjoy my splendid company (not to mention my Tequila) until you DO get there.... !

Excuse me for stepping-in here for a moment... but did I hear Kris's Tequila being served somewhere?!!!!!

Really good stuff the last time I tried a taste... but it does have a tendancy to put you to sleep just a bit earlier than normal

Have fun everyone... I only wish I could have made this one!

Sounds to me like everyone is getting ready to go.
Well don't give up on me yet Kris. the knee is feeling better every day. Far from being able to go to work, but I am going to try and swing a leg over the bike on Sunday or Monday when I go home from "the cabin". I have to have my stitches out Monday and if the Dr. gives me the OK to ride,....... I don't see the surgeon till after the rally. I had no issues riding before the operation and if need be I'll slide the brace on for assurance and go. I mean really .....is any different than sitting in my easy chair? I just need to be able to trust the leg if I need it. I can stretch it out on the bike or bend it, keeping it moving while riding. Any way,.... no promises right now but I have a good feeling about being able to make the run. Which way are you guys going Kris? Where could we hook up? Is hammer going? I don't remember.

Rick,
Thats great news! Don't take any chances...but if you think you are up for it....we would love to have you along! We will be coming up Hwy 9 and crossing in Sumas as usual, then taking Hwy 1 all the way to Kamloops (and Banff). We could meet you at Timmies like before...but without the rain.... ! I haven't heard from Hammer or seen any posts from him indicating he will be attending, but it would be great if he did!

Keep me posted....and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I still need to go to the Dr to have the stitches removed on Monday. I'll be asking him what he thinks. He usually leaves it up to me and how I feel. "If it doesn't hurt go ahead." is what I usually hear from him. I just hope he doesn't send me to physio.
