When I sent my ECU back to Ivan for the 2nd generation flash I talked to him on the phone about having the flash done for a BAK. He said that a BAK will only help with the RPM's above 4000. I very seldom ride with the RPM's in the 4000 and above range so I opted for the stock air filter setup flash. It does cover my Cobra Tri Flo mufflers or stock mufflers.
This is something that should be considered before you make your decision.

Thank you, JD Hog. I seem have taken the Chukster's BAK in a hurry. What should I do with it now?

I also tried the Chuckster's BAK and I just sold it locally for 100.00. It was a 95.00 experiment for me

OK, JD Hog. Do you use stock or a KN triangular air filter now?

I use the stock filter, I did read somewhere that the K&N doesn't seal very well and allows unfiltered air in. I don't know if that is a fact or not though.

I removed my Chucksters BAK before getting the ECU flashed, no problems with it- just got tired of the intake noise. Have not had any trouble with the K & N .

Go for the updated flash and keep the K&N that comes with your aftermarket BAK. |

You might want to re-check that K&N that replaces the OEM in the stock airbox. Install the top bolt and hold the sides in, as if the dog bowl bolts were clamping it in place. You will in fact, find how poorly it actually fits. Does not fit into the recess properly-no way.

Been doin bikes n motors for 4 decades. Mine came with some fittings & in fact I thought it fit too tight. Order the right one from k&n.

i start all 3 bolts to center the filter then tighten the top -- filter fits good -- then put cover on -- all is well

Does Ivan's ECU upgrade remove the top speed limiter? My 2011 nomad will not go past 100. Not that it's an issue but I don't like being restricted.

Sent my ECU into Ivan today
Well Folks,
I read all the posts and Ivan should pay you guys some scratch for your recommendations. We'll see how she does. I bought the Voyager back in Mar with 33000 miles on it. Only took a short ride up in Phoenix before the purchase. I have ridden a lot of bikes and I have to say I love the way the Voyager rides. Weather was mild and needless to say the engine temp seemed normal. I was very disappointed to see how hot it runs with the desert temps so high. I agree that Kawasaki should have never put a steam gauge on the Voyager because I am more distracted by the temp reading than a teenager with a new cell phone. Right now I have stock exhaust and I'll try it after Ivanized ECU installed to see if I like it. I don't like loud exhaust, it makes my tinnitus more noticeable, but may have to upgrade if necessary. Ill keep you posted. |
