Removing Silencers
Glad you guys got some rumble now! I bought my Nomad with V&H's already on it or I'd be doing the some thing. I did use the hole saw to remove the baffles on the Spirit and I love it!

now I just need to paint. I think I'll go with gloss black.
Maybe dan was hearing the intake on the right side? Thats the only clicking sound I hear sometimes. I'll take the clicking with the good looks and smooth ride. JM2CW |

We're gonna have to change your nick, BD.......How about FDN....."First Deep Nomad"....LOL.
Well, now that several of you have taken the plunge (not that I didn't trust you BD), I feel I'll have to do the same. But, I probably won't have time to do it until next week...but trust me...it's coming. I would love to know what BD is up to now?

I wish I would have tried this before I installed V & H Baggers. I was told taking the baffles out wouldn't make much difference because the goat bladder was reason the exhaust lacked a rumble. I like the new exhaust except it was a pain to install (left side grinding) and the cross over does not have a chrome shield.
Good job and if Trip tries his, I'll have to go see the results some time. |

Nico punched a hole in the baffles on my Volusia a few weeks ago using a piece of rebar. Talk about a fast, cheap way to get that deeper "rumpty rump" throaty sound ..... Worked, tho!! I love the sound on mine!! |

Just took the bike for a 40 mile ride.
BD you are the man! I like the sound. I am going to call it a deep mellow sound. I don't think it is any louder, even at speed , just deeper. I think it runs better and has more power ;) ( OK that part may be just my imagination :-[ ) I do like the sound and Trip I don't think you will regret removing them if you give it a try.
