Doc, I like the stock seat and was also thinking a Mustang seat with the backrest. Finally decided on the Utopia backrest. It bends forward for the passenger to get on, has a pouch for the passenger to put things in, is adjustable, and can be made to your needs. I had mine match the passenger backrest at no extra charge. No, I do not have stock in the company. I just like it.

I have a buddy who wants a rider backrest for his '06 Vulcan 1500 Classic. I think if it fits a Nomad, it may fit the classic as well. I'd like to see some pics of yours when it's done.

There's no provision for posting pics here. You need to host them on photobucket or other similar service and then add the img link into your message. You can either add the img link or a direct link that people can click on and go to a gallery. See my gallery URL beneath my sig line.

There is a "sleeve" that is bolted to the drivers seat bolt. The backrest's tab then slips into the sleeve. Kind of a "Insert Tab A into Slot B" type of thing.
